This is going to be vague I'm afraid. . . .
I've change the thermostat housing unit (11531437040- on the engine) and the temperature sensor in the lower coolant hose (13621433077 - to the left of the thermostat housing) and I've noticed the plastic protective shielding on the wiring that goes to both sensors has deteriorated and become brittle - it just crumbles when you touch it leaving the wires exposed.
I cannot see the wiring on Realoem to buy a new one, and I'm wondering if I should just use some tape to re-wrap the exposed cables?
