Hi all, when I operate my wipers they clear the screen but when they should stop at the bottom of the screen the go back up so far, as if they are starting another cycle and stop so far up the screen?! Is there a way I can reset them?
Thanks Steve

Hi, it’s caused by excessive grease within the wiper motor control board-remove & clean it & all should be well.
There’s a guide on here if you use the search facility

Get it cleaned up and properly sorted out, as it only gets worse!!

Mine got to the point that the wipers wouldn't stop when you cancelled them - or randomly stopped in the middle of the windscreen.

Not hard to do, took me about 45 minutes in total.

Just to add to this problem, would this also be a cause of why my wipers don't go back to their correct resting position when I use them whilst on a motorway doing 'motorway speeds'? I've noticed my wipers sit a few inches up the windscreen when I doing 70+mph and use my wipers intermittently.

If I use them at 50-60mph they work as intended and sit in the correct position, so I'm unsure whether this is general wind turbulence or a greasy mechanism causing it.

I’ve not noticed the wind pushing my wipers higher up the screen so I’d guess it’s the common excess grease inside the motor issue Ben? :?

Very probable that it is as Rob suggests. See topic below for how to fix it. Mine did exactly this several months back. :)

I remove and clean mine every Spring. I really should do it at the end of Summer but always forget. I find that it starts playing up again after a year or so. Gives me a chance to clean the scuttle and drains when I'm in there.

To add another view point, it can also (as in my case) be caused by a worn wiper relay

Yup same here; I went to clean out the grease but there was hardly any excess in the motor; ended up pulling the relay from behind the fuse panel and cracked it open - full of dust and shards. Luckily the fog light relay is a direct match, so I swapped them over. I think I've never used my fogs once.

One for the memory bank.
