I can see why other people would find this uninteresting

I dont have winters for the zed, as its staying in the garage soon for the winter months, although will come out on the odd sunny day if its dry

This thread reminds me, i have the winter wheels and tires from my E46 i need to flogg this winter

Not the z but mrs car.. On 25th October snow on the 26th lol

Z won't be moved in the snow we will just share a car if we need to

Getting colder here now, with ground temp falling... Think I'll change mine tomorrow, or next weekend latest

Fitted the all season Vredestein Quatrac 3s to the Z3 a while ago.

The Z4 is getting washed waxed and put away for the winter today :(

I think temps are due to rise again next week but if theyre going too yo yo then probably a good time to swap for winters around now, especially if buying new tyres as prices will be going up over the next month or so.

Tim.

Mrs D6GMB'S winters put on last weekend and mine put on this morning.
Took mine out for a wee run and you can really notice the difference as you give it the beans ie the car moving about a bit on the treads. :driving:

Won't be putting mine on for a few weeks yet, even though I was driving the z in snow last night! Needs to be consistently hitting below 7 for me to want to put mine on.

Can we inlcude winter cars in this? for the price it would cost me for winter wheels and tyres I just buy a cheap second car for a few months, no chance of destroying my Z that way :D

I mulled over this over the summer. For the E89 BMW wanted over £1500 for a set of winter wheels with runflats and at the time didn't fancy using my 11 year old Z3 during the winter. Ended up looking at cheap Vitaras and Jimnys lol but I just thought of all the hassle with another car, insurance etc then trying to get rid again in the spring. Also at the price your looking at for a winter car it will probably end up braking down anyways :) I just bit the bullet and bought some alloys and tyres for the Z3 at a reasonable cost.

Tim.

I've got my spare set of 108's for winter. When I get paid at the start of Nov I'm going to bite the bullet and buy the tyres. Was waiting to see if this cold patch was going to be prolonged or not.

Winter wheels fitted November 10th.
Seem to be good so far. Got vredstein xtreme wintrac after reading all the reviews, not cheap mind!

dont have winter ones still drive when I can and with our roads after the tractors have put holes in the road does make it interesting :o

Winter tyres fitted today, Nov 15th

Goodyear Ultragrip Performance 2's - 225/40/18 all round

Not as much of a stretch as i thought there would be on the rears but they do have a rim protection band round them and that sits flush with the edge of the rim.

Rims 17' ex E89 £200, new Vreds £500... expensive but since fiancé is also driving it, a sound investment & guaranteed Mot pass

I've heard that under 7C is the correct temperature for most winter tyres.

The average low for Glasgow in November is 4C but it's been remarkably warm most days this month (~10C), so I'm going to wait until December before putting them on.

Still not cold enough here yet really... Probably means we'll get 4 feet of snow in December as the Mayan prophecy kicks in :D

It's not the snow you need to worry about Bing, it's the moon sized meteor hurtling towards us at million miles an hour that's going to pulp us into extinction
