Wondering what peoples detailing process is like in the winter months compared to the summer? I try and get it done every other week, but won't look to do any strip wash, clay, wax as the weather is just too unpredictable to start that process. Generally will wait until spring to get the polisher out and get everything swirl free again for the spring.
A frozen hose pipe this morning took an hour or so to defrost, but finally got the water running to the power washer. 3 hours later after APC, snow foam, Korrosol, rinse, then 2 coats of Sonax BSD provides a decent finish. It's a funny product really, super hydrophobic, great shine, lasts a good few washes, but doesn't actually feel that nice on the paint. It's a bit grippy, not slick and smooth like a good wax does, yet it's significantly better at water/dirt repellency, lasts longer and much quicker to use....wondering if it makes traditional waxes almost redundant?

...that did actually brighten my day considerably. You think this is bad, you should try a post on detailingworld.co.uk! Being fairly pragmatic about it, in years gone by I used to just do the basic stuff much like yourself but the sponge thing was the one hard lesson I learned after literally wrecking the clear coat on my black Z3M after one winter. I didn't actually realise that sponges were so bad for swirls. Just changing that one thing made a world of difference.
