Windows not dropping for door open

Ok so passenger side lock actuator removed and refitted fiddly little thing

Onto the drivers side

Ok so anyone removed the drivers side door lock, looking at it you have to remove the door handle cover

Any advise anyone

No need to remove handle just the lock barrel
It's held in with a screw hidden behind a rubber grommet in the door opening.

Take note how it fits together, a bit more fiddley than passenger side.

Handle removed to get the barrel lock spline into door lock

Installed and working it windows still do not drop ah well onto the wire short and frm testing

I thought the replacement battery sorted your issues?

Have you scanned the ECU's, in particular the FRM?

If the battery was the root cause of all the issues I would've expected a replacement and resetting via OBD would cure the locking issue? Maybe resetting winows also?

Battery has been changed, had a variety of issues afterwards locked steering wheel.

Currently have the 9cbc (not rechecked) since yesterday and now warnings in the aux
sensor.

All modules scanned with ista d and responding, need
To rescan and maybe reset frm again to see if any changes.

Thought the short circuit would be the door locks but nothing changed after installing new ones.

Looked at various window reset posts, which one do you use/recommend

Trust you replaced battery with OEM spec AGM 70amp 770CCA?

The window motor has a hall sensor to detect positioning, either manually set using window buttons by holding down at bottom for 20 secs or so and repeat at top position.

Ista d will also have a reset function within the FRM scan I would suggest. I use INPA and that does it.

Yes OEM spec battery all good on that side and registered ok

I’ll let you know how I get on

No good still get errors and no different, junction box and frm check and wiring next :-(

Sounds like a nightmare.

Potentially the window motor could be your next thing to consider at a relatively low cost and a potential source for a short.

Yep nightmare, couple of strange things

Petrol cap does not lock when car is locked sure it did before

Windows drop when roof operated
Windows work when manually operated

Inpa operation on door and window throws out API issue

Could the short be the fuel cap lock mechanism?

I take it the lock doesn't move whether the cap is open or closed, worth buying a used one and swapping, rules another thing out

Fuel cap is not locking and manual release cable in the boot does nothing and not retracting so looks like this part definately an issue

Carried out wire consistency checks on doors, battery and frm disconnected, no breaks at all full resistance on the sensor cables listed in Ista D

Roof works fine, windows drop when opening and close when shutting, manually operate ok. New looks door and passenger all good too..

Replacement FRM coded to VIN which also comes up with 9cbc ....

The search continues

Could you disconnect the fuel cap lock clear codes and see if it repeats?

Just trying to work out how to remove the fuel cap to get at the lock, could not find much in ista D

Something I haven't tried on a E89

My last car failed and I replaced it, the liner simply clipped in so prised out with trim tools. That was an audi though so might be completely different. Sorry I can't help.

Looks like wheel and inner lining removal from looking online

It may be a red herring but it did used to work before the issues, ordered second hand off eBay see how it goes

Well that’s was fun getting to the petrol lock

Wheel liner removed nope also needed to remove petrol cap too :-(

So installed unit unlocks fine, but did not lock
Swapped over to replacement and exactly same :-(

Voltage on open none when locking

Maybe looking like an issue with JBE or fuse box

🧐
