Window regulator fitted, now in reverse?

Evening folks, I've just fitted a new window regulator all fitted as instructed but now the switch is in reverse, What's the easiest resolution for this please ?

First thought is to reverse the connections at the motor, sure someone will be along to confirm.

I would have said the same, but it's not possible to fit the plug the other way around?
Did the regulator come with it's motor fitted or did you re-use the original?
I would suggest swapping the motor. It is possible in situ........... just, with a short torx bit.

What caused you to change it initially?

Yes i reused the original motor, the cables were mangled on my original regulator so everything's fitted as was removed, works great but going in opposite direction, can the motor be switched 180 degrees to reverse polarity or not possible on these.

Well that’s odd if it worked properly before. Not sure tbh. Does it do the same from both door switches?

Are regulators handed? Is it possible you've been sold a passenger side one? Seems unlikely that it would fit but you never know and it would explain a difference that must be mechanical if the electrics haven't changed.

Don’t understand how the motor could be working fine on the old one then simply swapping it to the new regulator made it work the other way? Unless the regulator has previously been repaired and the cable is routed wrong?

Has the regulator mech gone round the horn (so to speak)

Not sure if it’s possible but is it that the winder spool has gone full travel then kept going so now the cable is going ‘the wrong way’?

I recall it being possible on e30 mechs

Its the driver's side, passenger side still correct, frustrating as it was a fiddly job.
If the passenger side works correctly then I can’t see how the regulator/cable can be wrong, have you checked a wiring diagram? Are there separate wires for the driver and passenger switches or is it controlled through a module?
If the wires were mangled could you have connected two wires from the drivers switch the wrong way round so the up signal is going to down and vice versa.

There is no way to operate the drivers side regulator from the passenger switch. I think the OP was meaning it's the drivers regulator that has the issue. My query was only relevant if it was the passenger regulator that was changed.
So either the motor is turning the wrong way without anything having been disturbed, the cable is routed wrongly or has turned to far on the drive, or the switch has developed a fault coincidentally. (Swapping another switch in would soon check that)

It's baffling, i purchased the whole complete regulator for drivers door, pretty much plug and play motor only bolts on one way, following a great video on YouTube, left and right will only fit the corresponding door so definitely the correct regulator, wiring all looks original too.

Unlikely surely? Doors still fit on the same sides. But worth knowing where it came from at least.
And the motor simply runs until it detects a higher resistance at the end of travel, then stops. No other switches involved.

The power supply to the window motor comes via the GM5. Any codes on that?
Is it worth the old disconnect/reconnect the battery trick?
Just wondering if the window was down when you removed the motor and then up when you reconnected, which confused the GM5?

If no solution is found and you just want to reverse the polarity of the wires then swap the 2 wires over in the footwell door socket near the footwell speaker.

Of course not, I didn’t think that one thought, getting confused with operating the passenger side from the drivers side.

I removed the motor and replaced in the same position, tried disconnecting battery and reconnecting, it's very random I've phoned the company up who i purchased it from and he was baffled too, it simply can't be put back together incorrectly
