Will this gadget work?

Does anyone have one of these and will it work in your Zed?
thinking of getting one for my Galaxy Note

Looks pretty good that. Off the top of my head the volume knob is right next to the CD slot so may prove problematic with fitting it and will also mean it's difficult to access the volume from the drive side if you have the radio or aux playing.

Worth a look for a tenner though, might get one myself

I don't believe in "sticky pads". Had one on the dash - it was good while it was new clean, but a couple of days later the phone flew all over the cabin when I braked or accelerated.

Yeh, I thought the same about the volume button. I might just take a chance for that price. :)

Good stuff, you can review it and let me know if it's worth getting 8)

I quite like the idea, but I think I will give the Mountek nGroove CD Slot Mount a try instead. Same principle, but seems to be a little better designed (to me).

The angle is more changeable and you can have the phone held above or below the CD tray, and it has screws to tighen into place.

my god these guys waffle on in the vidoes!

nice idea but im not convinced that long term they wont damage your cd slot. especially if you start hanging heavier items.

i had a simial idea that stuck into the ciggy lighter so would act as a chrager too for the iphone. over time it made the round socket egg shaped. i would worry with this that it will for the cd opening apart. especially the screw one where your putting force into the system if its overtightened.

Inclined to agree - except I don't use CD's anymore, so I am not sure I care if it damages it... so long as the rest of the headunit continues to function.

If you mount your tomtom phone device on that, wont it take your eyes off the road then it's so low down?

Will it work... Yes and No is my answer.

I bought one at the ideal home show, it fits into the CD player on my 1 series BUT it doesn't go all the way in as it has thicker strengthening "ridges" that prevent it going into the CD slot IYSWIM. It may just be the angle the radio sits at???

The end result is the sticky pad sits parallel with the floor so when I put my iphone on it, it's not at a usable angle.

I think the sticky pad part is OK though.

I've not tried it in the Z as it has Nav already :-)

Ok now I've got home and tried it...

No - it wouldn't do for me.

The slit where the CD goes in is much thinner than the gadget, as such, it's sticks out about 1CM further than I'd expect it too and doesn't make a solid platform.

Anyway if you want to go ahead you can have mine (used for about one hour) for £8 delivered :-)

s**t I've already order one :(

We also bought one from the Ideal Home Exhibition, it does work as the video shows with the TomTom, would not ruin the disc player as it is shaped longer at the sides and would not fly out when the top is down, but Mike thinks it's sits too low down in the car, so he feels that he is taking his eyes off the road too long to focus on the maps.

So if anyone wants it for a fiver, they are quite welcome to PM us with address etc and bacs us the monies. We have still got the cardboard backing with the instructions on and we have covered it in cling film to keep the sticky pad clean.

We are going to get the flat mat that goes on top of the dashboard, which works on the same sticky middle principle.

It seems the hunt for a good phone mounting device (non perm) continues :(

What about the brodit pro-mounts? I have one and am very pleased with that.

My issue is that I need multiple devices mounted... for no other reason than I am a really big nerd. But that is reason enough.
