Why is the Z the only M-car without wing vents/gills!?

It keeps bugging me, and no one has mentioned i before that I can think of...

Why is the Z4M the only M car in modern history that doesn't have gills/vents in the front wings!?

The M3 has them (both E46 and E92... (and E36?). The M5 has them, as does the M6.

Even the Z8 and Z3M had them too!

Bah!


... just in case you have no idea what I'm talking about... an example, if you please:

Out of boredom, I have performed the worst photoshop ever, with an E92 gill...




That actually came out better than I thought (from a Photoshop perspective).

Can't decide if I like it yet or not...

The answer is BMW couldn't be arsed..... Just in the same way they couldn't be arsed to fit a strut brace as standard.

Gills are tacky. I wouldn't buy a car with gills in this day and age.

I like it without as well, have to say but you have a point, it's an M trademark, just like the quad exhausts, so why did they leave them out, ummhh?

i quite like the roundels but i wish they were a bit different to the normal e85. particularly as i cudnt get the badges off quick enough, now the wings look a little bare, but nice =)

there's a chap on here from the other side of the pond with quite smart homemade vents isnt there ?

Well, I was thinking about the same thing regarding the grill. May be you can add the AC Schnitizer one on the side.

I'm fine w/o them... it'd be too busy with the puck already on the side.

What bothered me more, was that they didn't put aero side skirts on;
or better yet come up with unique M sides.

Don't think the E36 did...Nor did the E30..But they're not really modern as youy said.
