Why do you own a Z4?

I'm with you bud. Try explaining to a 17 yr old on site that the car he currently has...audi A3 tdi...will have a quicker off the mark time due to the torque, than the ST Fiesta he was looking. Always the "what's the BHP mate" forgot to add the old Fiesta 2.0 ST.andyf1140 said:My point was every one talks about horsepower but it's torque that wins races :evil:

My brother in law has a z4 c .... and we have done over 5k together including track time ( on track the S2k was miles ahead due to good suspension/brakes )

As a few have mentioned above.... needed something to give me back the grin factor... porsch boxter was my choice .... after looking at a few I knew I would struggle with what funds I had to spend Davros and he’s brother ( both ZED owners ) suggested I drive a ZED ...... 10 min after getting into the car I was putting a deposit on it . The same amount of car but half the price of the Porsche , so better year and miles for my funds .... I have to say, considering the ZED wasn’t my first choice, I am TOTALLY in love with this car now .... can’t believe how they get under your skin ... anyone thinking of buy a 2 seater sports car should give the ZED a chance, you won’t be disappointed....( that’s for none members who my be thinking about taking the plunge)

I just love the sound of the straight six and smile every time I turn the key. It’s one of the few cars i always find myself looking back at when I park just to have another glimpse of the Zeds beautiful lines :ilz4f:

I really wanted a Griff but having been stung wuth eye watering running costs before with two previous TVRs , i just couldnt go there again even . I did toy with idea of Tuscan but with a 30% engine failure rate it put me off big time even with a TVR power rebuild . A cobra replica would have been nice but too much money for a decent one and you dont get the creature comforts of the Z .
Having previous had an S54 Z3MR ,when I had the chance to buy a properly sorted Z4MR it seemed the logical way to go -ie small sports car with big engine kind of recipe -so basically i guess i bought it for the engine and for better reliability than a Griff .Still hanker after a Griff though -i think its one of the most stunning cars i have ever seen and makes a lovely noise espeically precat 4.3 BV ,which is one to go for . So basically i think a Z4MR is a modern day reliable version of the Griff -and amazing bang for buck IMHO.

I bought my E85 Z4 in May to have roof down thrills and enjoy the summer weather!

I've had 2 s2ks, a 350z, g35/v35, 2 wrx's and recently a 370z - the only car out of these I really loved was the s2000s, amazing cars that in my opinion looked good too. I was dissapointed in the 370z, wanted something different so ended up selling and bought one of the 4 z4 3.0si coupes for sale in Australia. Bought it because I think it has a bit of everything that drew me to all my previous cars, looks fantastic, good performance, generally reliable, rare/exclusive and not depreciating too much anymore.. Love the car
dad has hung his hat up so two seats means no oh can you drop my mates off or pick me and my mates up 
plus after purchasing I fell in love 
with it

Simple really. It still (after seven years) puts a smile on my face every morning as I drive it into work!
What other roadster could be such a great daily driver, fantastic long distance tourer, weekend away car and not bankrupt you in the process.

Had a 350z previously but always wanted an M3 e46. Sold the 350z as it always felt heavy and lacking power, started looking for other coupes in same budget before I committed to an m3. Then realised I missed having that enclosed feeling of a two seat coupe vs m3. Love the look of the z4 coupe so that instantly went top of the list that consisted of the m3 and a cayman 3.4. After realising how much rarer a z4 coupe is, and how much better it looks both inside and out compared to the cayman,I decided z4 was only way to go. I’m just now waiting to work get myself into a z4 m coupe...
Back in the late 2000's , a friend of mine from my local pub gave me a lift home in his new E86 3.0 . From that moment, I realised that I really wanted to end up with a Z4 Coupe, never knowing that they had done an M version.
In Nov '18 , I was in the position to get myself a car, after not driving for over 3 years and not having my own car for about 2+ years. When I started looking at Z4's, I was shocked to discover that the 3.0's had a lot less power than what my last car had and that both Alpina and M Sport had done special versions of the Z4. Due to a number of reasons, mainly due to my poor old man having to sell his really nice E46 M3 Individual Cab, I knew if I got myself a Z4M Roadster, it would allow him to enjoy many of the things he loved about his M3, as he has always borrowed my cars from time to time.
I was pleased to learn that the roadster wasn't going to have the same drawbacks an M3 Cab would, with a much higher kerb weight from added beams to strengthen the car. I was able to find one for sale pretty close to me just outside of Oxford and in the end, it is the car I now own.
For me, owning the Z4M was about getting my life moving forward. It has allowed me to get out of my bedroom and seeing people again and work on improving my strength/fitness, and rebuilding a life that had shattered due to a number of spinal injuries/problems and chronic pain syndrome. In the space of a few months, I have managed to go to a number of meets and my social life is slowly returning to me. My Z4M is letting me cope with the constant pain and moving past that. I never thought I would find a car that I would love as much as my departed Impreza P1, but the Z4M has managed to do that easily!
I hope to keep my Z4M in good all round condition and to hold on to it for even longer than the 5-6 years I had the Subaru Impreza P1. Even though it's a roadster, it seems to be able to do any task I require effortlessly and feels so well made and looked after. On the motorways, it's so steady at speed and is able to overtake others, very easily and quickly. It's an utter hoot to hoon around on B roads and it's also wonderful with the roof down, just enjoying the world around me while I am listening to music.

I always liked them since they first appeared; the proportions seemed just so right.
I actually went looking for a Z4 in 2013 when I was looking to move out of my 9-3 Aero. As I was searching I found out I could purchase a 6 series for the same budget and it was cheaper to insure! So I ended up with a 4.4 V8 for 3 years; then swapped out of that to a new shape 640i for a few years. Then May last year I needed to free up some cash so sold the 6 series and found a 2003 3.0 SMG in great condition not far from me. Happy days since.
