My first 2 cars were bought brand new from dealerships.
The first was a 62 plate Audi A3 Sportback and the second a 65 plate BMW 116D.
After taking the 116D to the Nurburgring in 2016 I realised how slow 115bhp was and sought after a faster car.
As a kid I had always wanted a Honda S2000, however I couldn’t find any decent ones on the market when I was looking and then I stumbled across a Titanium Silver Z3 with a blue roof and M Sport seats. I travelled all the way to Middlesborough for it (I’m from London), the car was old and needed work but it drove like a go-kart. Unfortunately I only owned it for about 3 months as it was written off due to a ball joint dislodging itself from the wishbone as I was taking a bend on a dual carriageway at moderate speeds but in the wet.
Turns out the car had had a postal MOT declaring everything fine when there was quite a lot of mechanical issues with it.
Anyways, I decided to get something a bit more modern but which maintained 2 seats. I came across the Z4. I wasn’t a fan of the convertibles, however I loved the Coupe. I wanted an M Coupe but didn’t want to pay £25,000 for one having just graduated from university. So I ended up buying a low mileage Montego Blue Z4 Coupe.
I kept the Coupe for just under a year, it was and is a great car, the highlight being a 2,000 mile road trip to Germany in which I took the Coupe back to its home; BMW Munich.
However, I also took it to the Nurburgring where I realised that under 300 bhp wasn’t enough :?
I had plans for a big respray job, detail and Quaife LSD but realised I’m better off investing that money into something with more than 300bhp...an M car.
Again, I wanted to keep the 2 seater life, so I looked at the Z4M Coupe. (Having worked for a year I had enough to get one). Unfortunately the insurance quoted £3,000 upwards...which I refused to pay. So I thought to myself, what’s the next best option?....E46 M3.
Although I’m in an E46 M3, I do have plans on getting an M Coupe, but I think I will get one when I can afford to run both of them as they are both great cars!
