Why do so many criticise the E89?

Why are there so many negative reviews of the E89, and so many comments posted on websites about it being "ugly"? I can't see it myself, so is it just a general downer on BMW by the press, and just a little bit of jealousy from others? It's got me a bit paranoid.....perhaps in the same way as some women look more attractive with the beer goggles on, perhaps the Z4 looks more attractive as you get older and your eyesight deteriorates!!

The new E89 is one of the nicest designs BMW has made to date. :)

What kind of car do you drive? if it is indeed a Z you should be proud of yourself having made a great choice!

I love my Z4 89. In fact better than my Bentley GTC. Not being flash guys, Judy showing how much more strongly in feel about it.....

Custard test, please.

Ksher, I saw my first E89 on the road (other than mine). It was the same colour as yours and looked really good in bright sun, much better than the pics I've seen of the colour....

Please stand by for my pics of the Z8 (with birds custard of course) maybe tomorrow :D

a wide smile appears when it greets me with the roar of the start button

you need to get that start button looked at, if it's louder than the engine
:D

They said the same about the previous generation Z4 (E85), which I thought was the best looking car on the road, which is why I bought one. Honestly, I like the previous generations' complete departure from the rest of the BMW lineup, but the E89 is still one of the nicest looking rides out there. Perhaps an acquired taste..

I don't get this birds custard thing....I may be thick...but enlighten me please!!!!!!!

To prove actual ownership you're supposed to take pics with a tin of Birds Custard in the car as a dealership won't really allow it too often. ( I believe this is the explanation )

As you can see my tins were far too large to get in the car.....(promo sales items of course  )

ok I get it....I have asked how to post pics on here, so would be happy to oblige!! anyone get a link to ho you do it......

Look's like a shot of someones car parked by the road side, even the interiour shot was done outside the car with the window up, how long did it take to find this car

Or to prove your point you must have other photo's of it in your garage or outside your own house on the drive?

It was outside my house numpty....car sold now. Thankfully didn't have to go outside someones house to take it! I took the car from a client who couldn't pay his invoice - was an ex P1 car, with 70K miles on it....not a very nice car, when pressed hard, came back with about 5 mpg...

And it went wrong more times than i can remember - and with a £1600 service every year was not cheap to keep.....

And if this won't impress you, nothing will.....Nissan Figaro too!

Z4 is a great car, but not so good over long distances.....little tiring driving it a few hundred miles at a time - can't wait til tyres wear out and then onto normal rubber...

I've found the 35i fine over long distances. Drove it down to Lands End earlier in the year and clocked up over 1200 miles and it was fine for me. :)

I guess because I drive a RRS as my everyday car, anything feels hard on my backside.....but I do love it, has an amazing cabin (unlike the RRS)

Planning a roadtrip, and will be having 5 days in the Z4....

I call Bull Sh*t just read through your past posts, your other username wasn't Beancounter was it?

If you own the cars you claim then a £1600 service is nothing, also the interiour shot was taken with the windows closed and you stood outside

In my profession before I retired I had to find out the truth, and I have to say again Bull Sh*t

....whatever makes you happy... blimey mate where is that aggression from. And I don't care what anyone has, £1600 for a service is a frick loada money - in comparrison a service on an RRS is £650 - do you think thats cheap too because it's a Range? In fact you know what...the Z4, RRS aren't even mine - I have a lovely little Pug 106, with blue lights under it, and I'm living on here in my fantasy role....all this comes from me saying the Z4 is a better car than a 4 year old GTC. I thought that was a compliment! And fyi, the GTC at trade was only 15K above what the Z4 cost new....

Kryton, check the pics of the new Z4 on this post and it looks like the same street to me as the Bentley pic.

Thanks Breaker, but don't worry - realising now I'm just rising to the bait and tis very silly....after all it was a well meant comment about comparing it to the Z4.....

And yes car was on the same street I live on now...but anyway.

Still don't think it's as smooth on long journeys as people make out, but then again not sat so close on my ar*** to the road in a long time - at 42 I just just about manage to get in and not dislocate my knee!
