Why did you buy your Z4?

You should have looked at westfields/caterhams If you wanted a car that was as close to bikes as you can get the zed falls way short of one of those in the rawness a bike offers. A well set up one of those puts the zed to shame in corners

That would have been great. But I needed to buy a car to ship over before moving to Germany. As we were allowed to ship one auto over gratis for the wife's job. But alas. If we would have not shipped one over. They will not ship one back. And Westfields and Caterhams are as rare in the USA as honest politicians.
 
decided it was time for something with airbags after wrecking two sport bikes, and realizing i wanted to live past 18 :D

looked at many cars, s2k, TT's, mx-5, genesis coupes, 370z's. the z4 wasnt even on my radar at the time, but one just happened to be sitting on the lot where i was looking at the genesis. this is where the sales man finally noticed me, and asked if i wanted to drive it. i absolutely fell in love with it first go round. had to have one.

not to mention that for the price this car is just classy as fu*k :wink:
 
Always wanted a 2 seater convertible, after always having sensible cars, thought wtf, do it now! :thumbsup:

After looking at loads of options, this was by far the sexier option!

Lots of mid life crisis comments, as I'm 38, but I put that all down to jealousy on their part!

Lol! Even the wife thinks mid life crisis!

It doesn't help that she is 7 yrs younger, but with my grey hair, she looks 12-15 yrs younger! Lol!

I look like the sugar daddy! :rofl:

As a 25-year-old, I refer to it as a mid-mid-life crisis.

350z was my original choice but the Zeddy's mpg just did it for me. I can gun it and grin a lot but also just cruise in sixth and not have to set up camp at my local petrol station. Managed 37.9mpg in France at one point. Incredible for a pacey 3.0.

youd proabbly fallen foul of the TUV taking a westfield from england tbf. Catherhams are more likely to be ok. Something to do with chaging the stock inlet etc and emissions i think.

If you do get chance to own one you wouldnt be dissapointed. they are a different kind of fast to the BMW and as close to a bike as you can get. A couple of the biker friends i have recon driven well a bike would be had pushed to keep up on a twisty road. Esp if you had either a high tuned car engined or the mental bike engined varients.

Does having the roof down/up make much difference to mpg?
 
Roof up or down / MPG. Probably does, but not as much as your right foot.

If roofDown = chilled then MPGUp else MPGDown
 
I've not noticed any difference with the roof in either position. I probably don't do enough miles to verify though.

Another point that made me buy the Z4 was the community. There are a few good forums with loads of info on the cars and mods. I find that if I buy a car that I can't fettle a bit and constantly discover or talk about potential mods then I get bored very quickly.

HaHa, I had this in the back of my mind when i first got it :oops:

Met my ex, not long after i got it (maybe a few weeks) she hated it, said it had pink seats and dash :x Needless to say she didnt last long.

Current GF is not all that impressed either, but i've convinced her that top down motoring is the way forward - and she is a keeper 8)

My under 10 nephew and niece love it though :lol:

Negligible difference. I often do a 150mile Derby to London on the M1... when i have done it with the roof up or down the OBC says around 39mpg. I'd say outside temp makes the biggest difference... winter i get much better mpg

I agree, i think i will always miss the sound of the Cerbera & the sense of occasion, buts its nice to have the confidence to enjoy the Zed whenever i want, rather than worrying if the TVR will overheat, breakdown or blow up! & all those three happened to me in the six years i owned it!! :headbang:
