Why did you buy your Z4?

Timeless stunning good looks , great performance ( 3.0i ) , tremendous value for money in the classic earlier model ( 2003/04 ) without losing a fortune on depreciation. Fairly exclusive where I live . Big enough to get my 6'7" frame in without my head poking above the windscreen.
 
I wanted a convertible, preferably rear wheel drive two seater fancied plenty but owing to being a bit tall and a lot of them were cramped, I had set my heart on a TVR Chimera for the speed , soundtrack and it was British , nearly bought one after viewing a couple but realized they were still a bit awkward to get in and low headroom for me :( started looking at Z3/Z4 tried a Z3 bit cramped again , then on to Z4 and thought why didn't I look at these first :D :driving: :thumbsup:
 
Was seriously considering buying a BMW touring motor bike at first but realised a Z was more me and that a mid-life crisis can be a revelation too
 
Owned a Z3 for a few years and then had to sell it because where we moved to I couldn't get it to the house without bottoming it on the stupid road. Loved that car I did.
Moved house again to somewhere more accessible and looked at E85 Z4's but, sorry guys, the shape just didn't do it for me like the Z3 did, I really like them but not enough to buy one.
Was happy then with my Freelander 2. Then one day I was watching Top Gear and Clarkson was doing a piece on the E89 and I just fell in love with the new shape.
Did my homework regarding fuel economy etc as I did a lot of miles then and the 2.0's economy was good so that was it for me. :D
 
wanted a 'sports' car for a change and ideally rwd/4wd that got decent fuel economy.

i started looking at vx220's but knew the lack of refinement would annoy me as it would be my daily.

i then stumbled upon z4's and could not believe they were so cheap.

nice big engine, rwd, 30mpg+ achievable, great driving position, decent sized boot and refinement. perfect for my needs :thumbsup:

i bought the first one i looked at having browsed the usual sales websites for a few months. only problems i've had are the coolant tank cracking and the oil needed topping up as it was low.
 
The look, from any angle, is just perfect... And after almost 3 years, I still pause and turn back to look when she's parked up....
 
Well I loved the E85 from the moment it was launched, and about a year after it was released I borrowed a 3.0i grey Roadster from Stratstone Derby for a weekend test (our company used to buy all its BMW's from there). I was hooked, and when my company car came up for renewal, I ditched it and bought a 3.0i Roadster. During my time with that I was invited to test a Z4MC by Sytner Nottingham, and i knew that would be what came next. I finally did the deed in April 2010. It will almost certainly be my last Zed though, because the E89 is not for me. :cry: Lovely car, just not my thing.

You should have looked at westfields/caterhams If you wanted a car that was as close to bikes as you can get the zed falls way short of one of those in the rawness a bike offers. A well set up one of those puts the zed to shame in corners
 
S54 engine, what next after the e46 m3.!! The looks were pretty good bar the front end and the rarity of it - SOLD!!

Had been driving past a forum member's (creamcakeclarky's) Sapphire Black ///M roadster every Friday for months. Needed a new car, as I had a gutless 3 series, and was loving the look of the zed. Couldnt quite stretch the budget to an ///M, so thought a 3.0i would do, going by the ratings on parkers.

Saw a Merlot with full Aero, hardtop and many toys, enquired, but sadly it was gone. Then looked at a silver 2.5i with aero and hardtop in Glasgow, but it was a bucket. Bodged service history etc and had badly corroded wheels.

The hardtop was a must, as I lived in Dundee and didnt want unwanted attention on the soft top.

Saw a black 3.0i with reasonable miles and full history near Preston. Well looked after, and once viewed/test drove - bought it.

Had been looking at M3's and S2000s, but the zed seemed the perfect car. Loads of torque compared with the revvy S2000 and bulky M3.

Fell in love with the zed after the first drive. Never turned back :thumbsup:
 
Owned an mx-5 for two years about 10 years ago loved it but sold it when I had to go abroad with work. After a couple of years later had a double garage which was screaming fill me with a sports car. Looked and looked for an mx-5 but that mint mk1 bbr turbo wasn't out there... And if it was a high risk buy as you. An no longer replace the turbo. Drove a 2.0 05 z4 which had been traded in locally and was hooked but needed more power... Put an advert on here and someone contacted me with his 05 z4 3.0 .... Just loved it

Boxers are just to common up here
 
How it goes, how it sounds, and how it looks :-)

It doesn't leave me wanting for anything, and now that it is officially the '3rd car / toy' I'm sure I'll love it all the more.

I originally wanted a TVR t350, but came to the conclusion it wouldn't hack a daily drive down poor roads...

Then looked at a Brera, too slow for the MPG
Looked at a 350z, heard some differing reports about quality and it's looks not that great
Looked at Z4C and didn't look back!
 
Wanted a Z3 coupe but thought that after having had a 2000 M5...that i really need a more modern car...with the same unique look of the z3m coupe....so the only choice was the Z4 M Coupe....
I will run the Z4 as my daily for another year, then park it and drive some diesel thing as my daily...or whenever i am not commuting on the Daytona through M25 traffic....

believe it or not on a run 85-90 it reeturns 30mpg :thumbsup:
i said if i get 15 or above round town well happy more like 24 :thumbsup:

and the sound when you boot it which happens all the time :thumbsup:
