Who's going to hit Libya first ?

It took long enough for the UN to quit waffling and now they have given almost Carte Blanche to the UN members to stop genocide.

Any bets on who's first?

US of A - as the UK doesn't have a naval aviation capability any more

HMS Ark Royal RIP :( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-12251800 :headbang:
Harrier 'jump' Jet RIP :( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11996936 :headbang:

Makes you proud to be british doesn't it?

I'd be surprised if the US jumped in myself...call me cynical but most of their oil goes to Europe AFAIK :)

In any event I suspect it will all be over before they get their arses into gear because they've left it too late as usual....I've said all along that Gadaffi would be less likely to go down than other arab leaders. :(

I mean really take the purple prince fan here

I agree I don't think we will see much if any US assets being used in this mess.

The pundits on tv seem to think the French will go first,
I think France for a couple of pence worth then the USA will urge an Arab nation in then jump in themselves with major air.

As for the Brits, NATO has airbases in Italy they could use....
And who's the idiot that dumped the Harrier?

Harrier, we dont have any navy left for em anyway :o

But there are plenty of subs out there in the Mediterranean right now, and what is Malta from Tripoli ? must be less than 250 miles so not a long way for a jet

how long does it take to make such a simple decision

whilst every one was debating he was taking back control

Standard procedure: Wait a while and maybe the problem will go away....along with a million or two local civilians. It's easier to scold a Dictator after the fact than to spend money or put your own people in jeopardy to stop genocide.

Funny how all this uprising is in Arab countries.

Oh and the UK are going provide arms to the rebels in Lybia (EDIT: What kind of spelling is that :o )!

may as well huh, they provide arms to everyone else dont they? isnt arms our no1 export? or is that just off the record info??

I watched an interview with the Israeli PM, he had some interesting opinions . "why is this happening in arab countries? " look it up on the net , he chats with Piers on CNN and it's a good listen.

What you need to ask is why libya ? why not somolia ? zimbabwe ? oh thats right no oil ! i went to the the first oil war or should we call it the nato arms test ? yes gaddafi is a murdering s**t but so was sadman hussein (not a spelling eror ) he was a sad b , if any of your sons/relatives are in the armed forces would you betting on them going ? sarajevo was brutal and like i said gulf 1 was a weapons test why oh why does the uk think its a player as it has been pointed out above there is no real capacity for naval/air support if the usa wants to be the worlds policeman god help us

I think the West is going overboard here and making a tw@ of itself.

I mean I know its a bad example but its relative; its a bit like Libya deciding to bomb the UK because a copper kills a bloke during a demonstration in London over poll tax or student fees...what bloody business would it be of theirs?

I know there have been casualties, but these guys have little respect for life generally so in the scheme of things its relative, and Gadaffis not unreasonable interpretation would be that he's legitimately trying to quell an insurrection.....his business not ours.

But we let a million people get slaughtered in Rwanda without lifting a finger. It makes me puke. :headbang:

Totally understand your point, but the crazy man has already said he will hunt them down, house by house and kill them all. We are looking at at least a million people disappearing because of a crazed dictator. He's just a lighter coloured version if Idi Amin.. Waiting to see what happens won't bring them back.
