OK, my schedule will be a bit "heavier" than yours.
Since i'm travelling from far far away, i intend on spending a lot of time on Islay.
I will arrive on Islay on Thursday 01/09 with the last ferry of the day (hopefully...). I'll stay at a B&B for the duration of the trip.
So i'll be waiting for you folks at the ferry terminal on friday to spend two days with you all ! ;)
I'll depart from Islay on Monday 05/09, then enjoy the rest of the day on the "mainland" and sleep somewhere probably in the Glasgow region (or anywhere else that any of you find of interest). Then head back home on Tuesday.

I'm still having difficulties to book my Islay ferry tickets, payment using a french credit card seems a bit problematic (tickets are booked, but payment fails... :headbang: ). Will have to give them a call.

If you have suggestion for the return road trip on the "'mainland", a nice place to stay. Given that i have to be at 18h00 at Dover for the ferry.

It's sometimes a problem using a UK credit card to pay for something in the USA.
However, I've just booked concert tickets for Nice Jazz Festival and paid with Master Card - no problem.

I just love their accent ! :D

That's what they said about you too :)

Where about in France are you Shooter? I'm going to be stopping off near Beauvais the weekend before Le Mans, my girlfriends parents live there and we'll be staying with them for the weekend. Probably not too far from you?

As you will most certainly discover, my accent is perfectly neutral. Or rather perfectly southern american redneck-ish...

Il live just south of Paris, so about 100 km from Beauvais.

That's me booked. Now just got the following to do:

1) Persuade Kirsty to camp again!
2) Buy a new tent/hair straighteners/space heater/caravan as part of the compromise to get Kirsty to come.
3) Make sure I get the time off work!

Looking forward to it!

PEACE!

Yeah Yeah, give a guy a chance , Jeez its still 3 MONTHS away, Chill out,

READ THIS !!! ALL OF IT!!!

If your going then I would advise booking the ferry soon, Bear in mind it is a Friday sailing it is a work day and the ferry can busy with Distillery lorries.

I had arranged to call the airport manager tomorrow ( i'm not letting this go :driving: ) as he is back from holiday tomorrow.

All you need to worry about just now is getting your Ferry booked to secure a crossing for that Time, Shooter Is travelling up and over to Islay on the Thursday and meeting us off the ferry on the Friday and staying on till the Monday. He appears to be on some sort of Whisky pilgramage. He is not camping.

Everyone else Post up if I have inadvertently and inexcusably omitted you.

YES I HAVE BEEN DRINKING.

Been looking at some of the Beaches on Islay and thinking if weather is nice on the Saturday evening we head out for a campfire and BBQ type thing.
The campsite and ferry booking websites have been posted numerous times, so have a looksee if you haven't already,

Friday

We will be looking to meet up at stirling services (again, posted already) for 8am Friday 2nd September, to leave no Later than 8:30.

Google says 3 hours to get there via the Rest and be thankfull, If you havent been there before, you WILL want to stop for Pics. There are some lovely spots when travelling down by Loch Fyne, so I want to allow 4 hours to get the ferry. Grab some food on the ferry, or bring a packed lunch, If memory serves not alot in Kennacraig. Alight Ferry at port askaig just after 3, meet up with Shooter , head for the campsite and and those going to hotels and stuff etc If anyone wants to go out for a meal in the Lochindaal Hotel post this in the list as well ,Failing that meet up for drinks in Port Charlotte, Or do your own thing.

Saturday,

Kinda looking to have a run around the island and head off on some of the back roads, IF they are not too bad with potholes and stuff, Some of them look ok so far as Google street map goes, but how old are the images I don't know, Head off to some beaches and stuff for photoshoots (Praying the sunshines All day) etc, Will be looking for places for Lunch if we are travelling in a group then best book ahead if planning to sit in somewhere, Distillery tour in the afternoon, Then go and explore what we havent already.

Now, there is not set regime once we get on the Island, If you want to take off on your own and do your own thing while we are there feel free, There is some Nice scenery on islay with the most dramatic being the view across to Jura off the east cost, great to get get your camera out and get some snaps for the photo comp. loads of walks, Standing stones dotting around the Island, I think there is somewhere you can rent bikes (I think, )

Sunday Head for the ferry. Head for home.

If it pishes down all weekend I recomend Beer, pool local banter, Whisky, If the sunshines, Well I'm bringing a football for a kick around, Anyone got a base ball bat, If someone does DO NOT LET KIRSTY HAVE IT. :D

If I have forgotten anything let me know. Closer to the time of the meet about the middle of August I will PM everyone with the meet times and routes we will be taking etc and also The meet driving ethics etc.

I've already taken my tyre wrench out of the car in anticipation.....

Why does Mrs Nosa get her proper title and everyone else's other half gets SWMBO? :poke:

She doesn't like it and told me to stop calling her it on the forum,

Now am i the only one who see's the irony in that :? :?

That's funny - Kirsty likes being called SWMBO as it gives everyone the impression that she's my boss. We all know that's not true.

Boss would imply terms of employment and fair working conditions.....

Your welcome.
Just in case anyone else is sick of silly small sleeping bags I stumbled across these
I treated myself to this one http://www.outdoorkit.co.uk/product.php?product_id=6154
and got this one for SWMBO http://www.outdoorkit.co.uk/product.php?product_id=6524&gclid=CMvl7vfHhqkCFUQMfAodPk4xpg
The sadly interesting thing I noticed is they have different temperature ratings for men and reptiles.

I have yet to see them as I bought them online but have been told by the Midget that they are quite bulky, which could prove to be a problem. Might have to leave the fondue set at home :D

Mrs Malc will only go if I can guarantee Riviera type weather - so no Mrs Malc. :)

I'll go along with the group wherever they are eating.
