Whisky tour atm is looking like Ardbeg, Any objections or alternatives ??

Objection : none.
Alternatives : YES ! i want to see ALL OF THEM !!!!!

Well, since the island is very small, i intend on at least driving by all of them. 8)

 No worries Shooter, I think we pass about 3 of them on the way to ardbeg

Hi love to attend don't know anyone as I am new but really would like to come I would like the hotel option
I would be travelling from Nottingham, would anyone be travelling in same direction to meet up with.

glewpot,

Hi and welcome to the forum, Always great to see new faces at meets and you are more than welcome to join us. I would just ask a couple of things, Have you read all the posts regarding costs etc especially the ferry, just don't want you getting any nasty shocks (there were a couple of comments on the Skye trip ref the ferry costs :poke: )
If you want to stay at a hotel then you will need to organise this yourself, there are some links on the campsite website Here if there is nothing In Port Charlotte don't worry about looking further afield on the Island, its not a big Island so not to far to travel, but you will miss out on the campsite banter.
And also let me know what you would like to do regarding a distillery tour.
Are you coming alone or will you have a wife / partner / friend with you?
As it stands at the moment there are a couple or 3 Zeds travelling from south of the border and Shooter is coming over from France, check out peoples locations and drop em a PM.

Just wondered if anyone has definately booked the ferry yet and if they have exactly which one have you booked or am I jumping the gun before Nosa publishes the definative Islay thread.

I am still waiting to hear if Cal mac are going to give us any form of discount, will give them another call tomorrow

Hi Nosa thanks for replying, ive got the genral gist ferrry approx £120 return, ive had a change of thought about b&b and think camping will be the way forward like you say would miss out on some banter.
With regards to the whiskey tour i will go with the flow so put me down for that as well.
Not sure who will come with me yet as the wife hates anything to with cars ha ha, so possibly travel on my own.
When the time gats a bit nearer i will PM folk to travel up with if possible.

No Probs Glewpot.

Right, Cal-mac are not budging to give any discount so looks like we will be paying full wack,, sorry guys I did try. :( :(

So has anyone actually booked ferries yet?Don't want to be the first and then find out you were all teasing me

Confirm 13:00 Kennacraig to Port Ellen on Fri 2 Sep and 9.45 return on Sun 4 Sep?

Will have to book some extra days off work!

p.s. Falkirk Central Premier Inn at £29 currently - was OK last weekend! (But don't book breakfast as doesn't open till 8

Your joking every time I looked into it they quoted me £60ish, even following the links from e-mails they sent me advertising the £29 offer.
B'stards for £29 i would have stayed over on fri night and got an extra couple of hours in bed lol.

Hi Nosa,

I can see things are gathering pace, am i correct in thinking that i need to book return ferry on this date?

13:00 Kennacraig to Port Ellen on Fri 2 Sep and 9.45 return on Sun 4 Sep?

aslo what are the camping arrangements, is it pay on arrival etc?

I wonder how much I could charge to rent rooms in "Chateau a11y" before meets?

I'll try and get onto the ferry booking next week. Nosa, let us know what you get charged just so we don't get done!

glewpot, I think that's what nosa confirmed above - that's the ferries indeed :)

glewpot,
Spot on with the ferry dates and times.
The campsite is pay on arrival, a section of the site has already been put aside for us, they normally charge £8 per person per night but I have negotiated that to £6 as long as we can manage to get 10 tents.

As I said earlier I am hoping to book the ferry next week, The price for a car and 2 passengers return is £120, slightly cheaper if there is only one of you in the car, as soon as I book it I will let you all know, or if any one books before me post it up.

I have decided not to start a seperate thread for this as all the info is already on this one.

I will re-do the "who's Going" list later.

  :driving: :driving: :driving:

I was referring to getting a room before the Skye trip, I have just checked on prices for one at Falkirk Central in time for Islay and can get one for £29
Now i just need confirmation i can make before booking everything up.

That's me just booked Ferry £120.50 for the Zed and 2 people and the Falkirk Central Premier Inn for the Thursday night as Guiseley stated currently going for £29.00 room only again for 2 people, just got to make sure I'm there now.
Just to let you know it's p*ssing down here and has been all day along with thunder and lightening not doing my sun tan any good, so much for the sun here on the North African coast, it was better in Skye last weekend

Nice one big guy, I will be booking on Monday. as you said, just make sure you are there now.
