Which wire is which on the convertible top motor?

I bought a new motor for my convertible top pump. It was not a Genuine BMW part but fit up perfectly.

The new motor is a different design as the OEM one, so I wasn't able to visually match up which terminal was on the left and which terminal should be on the right.

The new motor has a red dot next to one of the terminals. I am assuming that means it is the positive terminal.

Could you tell me if the green stripe or the blue stripe is the positive cable?

I tried to look it up on this diagram, but it is so small.

HA HA, Thanks Guys, that was my plan "B" but I was trying to be all "professional" by asking.

The more I think about it, there really isn't a positive/negative. The motor spins one way to raise the roof and spins the opposite way to lower the roof. So you guys are right, "trying and swapping" is probably the best method

That’s one line.
Between the people on here I’d guess well in excess of 500 motors have been sorted.
Swap the wires over

oh, I just posted that for anyone looking for the info in the future. I am still waiting for my hydraulics to be repaired. They are suppose to be shipped back to me at the end of this week.

Until then, I am just sitting here watching the tumbleweeds roll by. :tumbleweed:

Yes, swapping is the best method. I put the motor from my top into my new black soft top frame and connected the wires the same way they came off my original tan top and the buttons still ended up being reversed. Confused my friend and I for a solid 10 minutes
