hi guys, im just about to buy a z4 3.0si roadster

you may have seen my post another forum, but ive just been pointed here so thought id get your valuable opinion.

1st one, from a small indy dealer,
cheaper
fully specced up
but
older
higher mileage
no bmw warranty

2nd one, main dealer car,
newer
more expensive,
missing options (bluetooth, cruise, xenons),
but
low mileage
with proper warranty

i went to see both cars this afternoon, heres my findings

the bmw dealer car is immaculate, and i mean spotless. and it has a nokia bluetooth kit.
dealer will trade at 14k (2k for my 05 mg zr), and 4.25 flat (8.5%apr?)

the other one, not so much, 3 wheel need a refurb, theres a few light paint scuffs and there a spot of RUST on the driver doors. all of which he said he'd sort out. but ive been here before when a garage says yes i'll sort all that and it comes back as a st job.
he also offers his OWN 6 month warranty, rather than a 3rd party insurance warranty.
indy will trade at 13k (2k for my 05 mg zr) and is find out about finance. i asked for 4% flat (8% apr?)

oh and the bmw car has the stty business stereo, but not sure what the indy car has, didnt say business on it and not sure of the satnav has anything to so with the stereo?

so im still undecided and any guidance would be much appreciated.

All things being equal I'd always get a AUC car, however seems to me to be more important to choose the one you want. grey, red interior or silver black interior, etc.

I just happen to prefer the grey /red combo

I'd go for AUC, everytime. Having said that... never needed the warranty for anything, ever, so you wonder why... If you look through the posts about getting an extended warranty most advice against that, even though most seem to advice for getting an AUC... strange that... How much are you willing to pay for peace of mind?

AUC every time.
Best of luck with your purchase homerjay

And get some pictures on here as soon as you get it

Normally i would say get the AUC one, however the difference in price and the amount of extras sways me to the other one. With the £990 you saved I am sure you could easily afford a Warranty through a third party. I like the Titan silver and black leather colour combo, same as my car and the best colour combination for the Z i think.

Don't rush. Wait for AUC with the options you want. Buying BMW from independent dealer can cost you much more money in the future (I had the experience with my first BMW).

seems like auc is the way to go.

one thing to note though is im not sure the finance details are correct, 284pcm with 7120 ballon is 5.25% flat on my calc, not 4.25%

not quite such a good deal at that rate imo, i need to ask him to clarify

thanks all.

Bought ours privatly with no finance, but if we had not would rather go down the main dealer route, but as said get them to search for the one you really want. Then enjoy :o

FYI the car from the indy does not have bluetooth, only bluetooth prep, that means you still need to add the bluetooth, which is not cheap or easy.

after looking at those 2 cars i prefer the grey/red combo, plus it has M steering wheel and M parts, which will save you paying to add them later!

please excuse my ignorance.

i didnt notice a difference with the steering wheel, what other M parts are there?

i would say auc; but then with that price difference you could get an 3rd party warranty from the likes fo warranty direct (although that would never be as comprehensive as the AUC warranty)

Also I am pretty sure bluetooth prep does mean it comes with bluetooth here in the UK.

Bluetooth prep most definitely means it actually has bluetooth. All cars are "prepped" for bluetooth so it wouldn't make much sense anyway
