Where would you/did you go from an M?

My dad is trying to sell his 991 997.1 fully loaded 57 20k turbo wheels struggling to get 30k for it. Worth more to keep but hes found this

Going to look at it this sat, will probs end up buying it depending on trade in. Would have the 997 off him in a heartbeat if i could afford it its imaculate. If you thought mine was immaculate should see this thing almost brand new hell of a car.

The 997.2 is heading the same way many 991s are around 60k now the 997.2 GTS is nothing but skyward or staying where it is.

No just sat in Lima airport about to fly to Miami to start my 3 month stint in America with the gf. Just finished my 2 months in South America! Will get some pics up at some point but gone through 10000 shots so far so it's a bit of a task and the iPads not really up to the job! Lol

I would definitely have that 911 Tom as long as the interior is a sensible colour! Many air cooled 911s, as well as 944/928s etc... ruined by the somewhat questionable tastes of the time in interior design

Back on topic.....have thought often at what would/could replace my z4(s), and went for an MR after having a 3.0i. Now it would be even more difficult........and would probably have to be a lottery-win funded car, eg. lambo aventador, McLaren 650s or P1, BMW i8, etc etc. As I feel nothing less than these that I have driven or looked at (newer Boxsters, Caymans, Audi rs4/5/6/7; etc) gives me the thrill at even twice the cost of my M/previous z4.
The biggest problem is that the z4m is such a great car at its original price of circa 45k, and even more so now 2nd hand at below 20k, that you have to spend ALOT more to better it, imho

Took one out for a test drive a few weeks back (early Nov). It's a great drive. From my 20 minutes, it's a great car, the throttle response and torque suited me perfectly, and for such skinny tyres it had incredible traction. Steering weight / feel felt good to me and it feels incredibly nimble.

I love them and would definitely get in one if it was at all possible.

You certainly have to praise BMW for coming out with a truly unusual looking car, I saw the concept in Munich a while ago and glad to see the road car is still striking.

I think if you took the badges off and parked one next to a Ferrari people would be swooning all over it

They actually feel really small to drive, really "chuckable". It would leave the ZM for dust on both the 0-100 dash and any twisties I'm pretty sure.

As much as a hundred grand seems a lot for a "three pot hybrid"... I mean, just look at it.

Let's not forget you basically can't buy a new Ferrari for anything less than £200k these days (don't know how much the new California is but can't be cheap?)

The i8 is worth every bit of the 95k-100k price, as it has great performance, while returning circa 40mpg in the real world, looks amazing in the flesh and you have to love those gullwing-style doors

To my eye I think it's an absolute pig of a car that will age horrendously within 5 years....it already looks like something from an early 2000's sci fi movie. So, you have £100k to spend, and you're really bothered by the 20mpg difference compared to a 991 Turbo....yeah, right! It's a marketing exercise, a car for people who want to look different, show the world how cool they are...it's like a big bluetooth headset.

Who will buy one with 50k on the clock when the batteries are only expected to last 100k max....it's currently £40k to replace the batteries?

Oh, and you can't park it in a normal space or garage (genuinely) as if someone/wall is next to you it's impossible to open the doors.

This is a pretty tight spot , with no issues. They're a gadget, a toy if you will. Odds are if you're buying such a gadget ... You have enough other cars in the house already to cure other cravings. Sell it within a year and hardly lose anything. Even better, buy it through a business and reap the tax benefits ....

I agree with you on this and I do really like the look of it and the fact its rare and different but I think you would already have to have a lovely fleet of cars in your collection to buy one in the first place and I cant see many people with "only" 100k to spend on a car that would actually buy one.
