It's fun sure, but BMI is also complete horse poop & takes no account of body habitus.

I have a BMI of 29 - which makes me technically fat, borderline obese. So why then do I have a body fat index of 11% and a 32" waist ?

A couple of years back during an assessment for a minor op, a nurse took my height and weight and, without looking up, recommended that I "lose weight". I lifted up my tee-shirt and asked her "where from"? :)

Exactly the same for me Stuart.

Mine is 27 and I had my BF tested at 10% last week. Went for a work medical and was told to 'watch my weight'.

Absolute nonsense.

Sir Chris Hoy, multiple cycling World Track champion, Olympic medalist too many times to remember, is, according to BMI, Morbidly Obese.

As for Size doesn't matter, it's probably only men who say that!!  :poke:

Oh, 28 and Bahrain.

23 - makes a difference if I say that I live in NL or in the UK. If in the UK, 88% of the blokes are worse off, but in NL 82%

I'm 67 years old, 28 and Spanish - I've only ever been there once in my life but that must be where I got the fat from - the BBC says so!

22 - Did you know?
If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would remove 17,882,554 tonnes from the total weight of the world's population. :poke:

For me that bit said the world would stop turning as it would be too heavy :D

I'm an BMI of 24, most likely to be from Mauritania. My mother is from Mauritiaus though. But it is Xmas and I've just come back from holiday so I'm usually a little lighter.

not had bmi calculated for a while...

23 below average globally (and therefore nationally) for my height 6' and age 41...

and apparently from Singapore, not a chance :o

Classic Christmas thread revival, for your first post here Mike. I'm a little slimmer than last year.

Would be good to here a little more about you over in the new members section. What Zed are you driving?

37 and according to the page I am more obese than 100% of my age group. Had I better not eat those 2 cream doughnuts I bought to have with my coffee? Stupid question.

Bmi of 28 and apparently from Croatia, might have to use some airmiles and visit my kin.

Question now though, millionaires shortbread or flapjack with lunch?

BMI is only useful when used for sedentary / overweight people and pretty useless for others who are very active. A body shape index is a bit more useful as it takes into account the waist size (where fat is likely to be stored). Try this simple calculator which assess health risk and has links to several so-called health calculators.
[My BMI is 22.8 and with a 31" waist my risk category is apparently "very low"]
