Honestly??/ i used to do this alot, then work, kids and life got in the way, i LOVED the feeling of getting up while everyone else sleeps, gas the car up and just drive as far as you feel needed......
the freedom, the ALONE time, thinking time, deliberation time, fun times, hell, maybe even time to reflect on the not so good ... but the complete mix of thoughts, emotions while driving your pride and joy is imo one of those moments that you relish...... so tomorow??? i have a rare occasion where i literally have nothing to do!! so..... im going to uncover the z4, fill the tank to the top, and just drive as far as a tank will take me...... my direction??? no-where.... my aim..... i have no idea, just me, the car and wherever my thought process takes me, alarm set for 5am.... Really looking forward to it :-)

anyone else do this?

I used to do it every Sunday, you have just made me realise that I stopped a long time ago and didn't realise!

As you said, other life events have crept in!

Enjoy your Hoon :driving:

I have woken up seriously early a couple of times over the last few months and not been able to get back to sleep. Instead of sitting round the house I have done the same - it's incredibly therapeutic, I love it. Especially now, when it's light and (sometimes) warm. In fact you may be responsible for me doing it tomorrow :D

I did it two Mondays ago at about 4.00am and got stopped for speeding. Luckily got a warning instead of prison. I'm not saying how fast
Interesting the Rozzer said keep it under 95 in the early hours and they won't bother me :)

I don't get up and do it for 'no reason' - but I regularly wake up and feel like I need a hoon, so get up and head out.

Split up with girlfriend of 6 years last month, so I've been doin the 'long random drive' thing a lot recently!

Mainly to have some alone thinking time. It's like therapy

Never! My bed is too important for me!!!

However, I do go out and drive for no reason though, so apart from the time difference, its sort of the same!

If I set my alarm for 5am I know I'd turn it off and roll over!

Up at 8.30 this morning....but thats only cos it was a friends turn to buy me breakfast! Normally I don't see Saturday mornings!

wattsie.... honestly..... its EXACTLY this type of life upheaval that will force the "drive", like i said in my OP, your drive may lead through thoughts of happiness, sadness or downright sorrow, BUT.... theirs something therapeutic about the process... almost kinda healing.... really sorry to hear about the GF buddy, relationships SUCK, but it guess it just wasnt meant to be huh??
o a side note... is their any chance of a reconciliation or is this completely out of the question???

works been tough for a while so, im looking forward to my reflective drive :-) AUX port installed for extra tunes!!!

The difference between a spirited morning outing in the car vs one on the bike...?

In the car you can relax, think, chill out. On the bike, you have to concentrate 100%, focus and work hard. No time to ponder life's problems. I find this more enjoyable, as you really have to switch off everything but what you're doing right there, right then and when it all comes together on the bends, magic.

I find that by the time I've been out on the bike, I've concentrated so much on the ride, that whatever problems I had, are either forgotten, or I've came up with a solution using the other side of my brain...

car v bike just doesn't compare to be honest for me.... but it's still nice to have a decent run out on 4 wheels...

Can't get up all that early to save my life, but now I'm retired I do sometimes jump in the zed with no idea where I'm going and just drive and enjoy my fantastic car.

Early morning... too far away, think I will go for a little private hoon tonight since the girlie's on nights

oh man.... im tired!!! got up at 5.30am, brimmed the car with v-power and off i went!! lots of thinking, lots of singing alot to music, awesome times!! did a couple of pulls upto a fair old lick but mostly cruised alot at a sedate 70mph!!! At the end.... i pulled in on a completley deserted A road, sat on the curb, lit up a hamlet cigar that was oddly rolling around in the boot, and basked in the sun, the moment...

i got back at 9 so a good 3.5hr drive!!! wahooooo!! im knackered now tho :driving: :driving: :driving:

note to self.... -2.7 camber upfront is not suitable for long distance driving!! lol!!

Good job

I have just sat in a half hour queue at the local recycling centre :x

Letting the side down with your hard top still on though Beedub :poke: :D

Been on another random drive today, up over the snake pass, took some photos, had a wander around.... head a bit clearer!

No, I don't see reconciliation on the cards to be honest..... shame.....
