When selling, take off mods or not ?

Z4M-2006

Lifer
 High Peak,Derbyshire.
So...

When the spring arrives the Z4M coupe will be for sale.

im thinking the best way to get most money would be take off the mods and go standard, sell the things that are worth cash ?

So... Baring that in mind, the mods/extra's i would sell is..

19" CSL style wheels and tyres (mint)....
H&R springs (less than 8k)
Hayward and Scott exhaust boxes and X pipe..Like brand new...
Dateless number plate (373 NKN)..valued at £1500,but who knows.

The way i see it that between the items i see a couple of grand, seem feasible ?

Or...do i just leave everything on the car and say ask £1500-£2000 more hoping that the new owner likes whats done ?

With that info where do we think the pricing point should be for both options ?

Car is 2007..
Imola red
Black leather
Carbon dash
No Nav
Heated seats
Electric folding mirrors
Audio upgrade with CD changer and Aux
Cup holder..
Stubby...

Car has full and comprehensive BMW History and isnt in need of service for 11,000+ miles. Mileage is 81k..
Car is truly immaculate.. Fully detailed and machine polished, interior shows little or no wear..

Car has no issues.... Recent rears discs and pads.... Even has correct front discs fitted

What are we thinking ?

Think you will struggle to get another 2k on top. CSL's will make easier to sell though. Put the OEM exhaust back on as the H&S one could make it harder to sell and sell that on. Leave the springs, probably not worth the hassle.

If I sell mine the Gruppe M would be off along with the strut brace. CSL's and aero skirts would stay most likely though.

Are they CSL reps or OEM (not yours Steve)? If Reps, might as well leave them on.

They are reps..

But have the 224's to put on if so.... So could sell either...

I dare say the CSL's are worth a little more even though they are reps.....lol...

What i meant was..........Standard is standard and will attract a certain kind of buyer.... So no real point on leaving bits on, go standard or modded but not mix and match...

I pretty much think i could put all oem bits back on in a few hours,so no great shakes...

Well I always used to put my bikes back to stock and sell the mods on.

Most buyers seemed to prefer standard non messed with and good history.

Cars may be different to bikes but standard always sold better to modified.

(Had company cars for almost 30 years, so can only comment on bikes).

Why not advertise with the CSLs but state OEM wheels can be fitted if the buyer prefers. Either way you can sell the spare wheels that the buyer doesn't take. Or sell them to the buyer on top of the asking price of the car.

I'd take the rest of the mods off. If they're not BMW parts you might narrow your resale market

What do you mean by " not BMW parts" ?

H&R springs and H&S exhaust are aftermarket....BMW dont do any upgraded parts for either..

Like i say,a potential owner could have it either way.....Its a few hours to change the parts over..

Either way...

If it all goes back to standard, what kind of money do we think it may bring ?

Maybe give the potential buyer a choice with or without the mods then price accordingly. Say this price with the mods and this price without?

Was referring to Steve's (srhutch) earlier post about leaving his CSLs and aero skirts on if he sold, which are BMW parts...

I think £13,500 would be a fair asking price. Plus whatever selling the mods will get you.

Fully modded I reckon £14k?

Hmm...

Suprised at only £500 extra for the Exhausts,Wheels, suspension and number plate....I can sell the plate for £610 so that would be a no brainer i guess..

£15k without the mods, possibly more come spring time.

Sell the mods on here, you'll get a buyer for all of those bits.
