What's this under my Drivers seat

I have a 2004 Z4 E85 and have recently removed the drivers seat to give me more access to work on a power steering fault. Under the seat there is a multi-pin electrical connector (which had to be disconnected) and from the socket attached to the seat there are numerous cables shooting off to various places within the seat itself. I know one cable is responsible for the seatbelt warning but there are three others with no obvious purpose. There is also a cylindrical tube device that goes to the base of seat belt connector that also has a socket with a cable plugged into it. The three seat adjustments are all manual so there are no adjustment motors to account for these cables, can anyone enlighten me ??

Thank you all for the suggestions you have provided, the connectors (plug and socket) are yellow, puzzled as to why there should be SRS related wiring in the drivers seat area, I can understand it for the passenger side.

Although the loom to the seat may be pre-wired for electric/heated, the seats themselves will not be. You should have wiring for seat occupancy sensor, seat belt buckle switch and seat belt pre-tensioner (which is connected to the SRS).

I hope you disconnected the battery before disconnecting the seat, or you will have an airbag warning light on re-install.

Zedebee - thanks for the warning. The battery was still connected when I disconnected the plug under the seat but ignition was off. However I did disconnect the battery and left for 30 mins before removing the steering wheel airbag so hopefully it will not bring up an SRS warning when all is restored. I have had the SRS warning light come up before, not sure what caused it but resetting it with the C310+ ODB2 diagnostic unit removed the warning and not seen it since.

Oh no!
I was sure I'd made that clear in your EPS thread. If not then my apologies. Think you'll be seeing an airbag light!

Hmmm. Just went back and looked. It seems I didn't highlight the need to disconnect the battery in your thread, but in various other threads where I was offering up the same info.
So my apologies if my omission has caused you any issues. Fingers crossed you can get it reset ok?

enuff_zed - as in my previous note, battery was only disconnected prior to removing airbag unit, shouldn't be a problem to reset as long as there is no genuine fault with the SRS system, I have had to reset airbag warning before. Payment made to ECU Testing so awaiting contact about collection of the EPS motor. When re-installing, did you have any issues with potential adjustment to the eccentric spacer ring in order to get the correct mesh with the motor worm gear drive

Removing the seats with the battery connected will have the same effect unfortunately. Applies to every yellow plug I believe.
Anyway, I simply marked up the ring as you have done already. It all moved a little as I wiggled it in, then I just lined up all the marks again.
