What's the widest I can go?

I have a non M Z4, looking to get 245/35/19 fronts and 275/30/19 in the rears. My question is, what is the widest I can go (without mods) in the rears? Anyone out there with non M and 275s rears, let me know!

I've got 265/30/19's on the rear which I have no problems with, still a fair amount of space, therefore I'm assuming it would be possible to go wider....

What is the width of your wheel rim? If its 9" (9J) 255-265 would be the optimum width (245 minimum). 275 is the maximum really.

Don't think extra width necessarily means more grip though if thats what youre after!

I believe you would be ok with the 275's in the rear but I would be concerned about 245's in the front. I ran 235's on the front of my 03 & 06 Z4's and there was no room to spare. Also as EdButler noted if your doing this to gain extra traction you will only change the shape of the foot print to wider and narrower (By mm) and not gain any real difference in traction. Also, I would not put 245's on an 8 inch rim. They really need a 8.5 inch rim and I would not put a 275 on a 8.5 inch rim. 9 inch would be much better but that's just me... :)

I've got 235's in the front and 265's in the rear. My front tires touch ever so slighlty against the front of the wheel well when I turn to max and the front is dipping forward. You coulod probably clear 275s in the back, but then you'll be moving away from the proper overall diameter by keeping a 30 ratio.

Hang on - you're saying a wider tyre will look stretched? And won't offer rim protection?

Wouldn't it be the complete opposite of that?

Thanks for you reply. Width of wheel rim is 10". Not looking for more grip - I just like the look of nice, wide tires.
