Whats the point of a Roadster?

Slight flutter of snow this morning.

Long country drive this afternoon to site.

Sun out.

Roof down!

'nuff said!

Ffs I have a hairdresser car and now it has a hair dryer engine. You lot are engine-ist. I'll have you know I took a nissan micra at the lights on Sunday and those things are nippy.

Roof down unless its raining hard - the North East has a third of the rain in the North West - where are you located? :(

Lovely to drive with snow swirling around the cockpit - try it!

Despite not having heated seats we wrap up, drop down and go out for a hoon - great experience and a tonic at any time! :D

I'm starting to think this as dug the Z4 out of its winter slumber last weekend thinking the worst of the weather was over and its rained most of the week and today its snow and icy winds  with no foreseeable warmer weather. When I took delivery of the Z4 last April it rained for most of the year. Think I only enjoyed a few days of sunny topless zedding. Z3 is back out now until the weather improves. Really starting to think next time will get a tintop

Tim.

I also dont understand people that buy a modern Roadster, then garage it over winter like its made from cardboard that cant get wet or cold? That's just plain ODD

Why is that ODD? I have 2 Zeds, one for winter use (Z3, which are dirt cheap to buy now) and one for summer use (Z4). Common sense to me said not to pay BMW 2K for a set of winter wheels with runflats but go for a cheaper set of wheels for the Z3 with appropriate winter tyres. I would simply never drive any car with summer runflats in winter conditions, they're borderline safe. If someone gave me a set winter runflats for the Z4 it would be out tomorrow, any offers?

Made me smile seeing all those poor folk stuck in their cars and trucks overnight down south in an inch or two of snow. Winter tyres and they'd more than likely been on their way

Tim.

I think you have completely missed the point.

I choose to have only 1 car
I do not have a garage
I happily drive my roadster every day of the year snow rain or shine, as BMW intended :driving:

Got up this morning. Minus 1, sun out.
Roof down, hat on, Sport button pushed, off we go!!

Got some funny looks from the residents and workers of Basingstoke but by the time I got out onto the lanes to work the sun was properly shining and I was loving it!

Finally discovered the secret weapon of a UK Roadster owner - a HAT! :D

Drove home from site last night with the roof down, 4 degrees.

Sport mode on and my hairdyer engine sounded nice.

Country, twisty roads. Nice!

Saw an owl and a fox - bonus.

Got called a twat by a bunch of chavs, but dont think that had anything to do with the car, that was purely aimed at me!

They are just jealous (plus bitter that they live in Basingstoke :poke: )

Haha! :D I live in Basingstoke too ;) Though more for convenience ...

I did for a year too - rented a house in limes park so I could walk to work when I worked up there.
