What's the fastest speed you got caught doing?

Following on from the fastest you've been in a car (in which we seemed to lack documentary evidence) I wondered what the fastest /most excessive speed you've been caught at, and whether you can show the ticket /indictment?

Here's my top trumps for starters..

I believe that the FIA are banning these flying machines from doing 'flypasts' at F1 races due to their extravagant use of fuel and total waste of money from the countries that own them.

I’m wondering if the following will qualify for your thread given neither offence resulted in a speeding charge

First one was 123mph and resulted in a CD30 conviction, straight 6 month disqualification and £485 fine paid weekly

Second one was on a Fireblade (allegedly up to 150 mph) but summons showed something like travelling in excess of 118 mph - we accelerated to this speed but we were not gaining ground on the the accused was, he was pulling away from us - resulted in a DD30 conviction, straight 11 month disqualification and £650 fine, also paid weekly

Before I get any stick, both bans were thoroughly deserved because I was driving like a tool  Never got my bike license back after the second one. Decided for self preservation not too bother with it after that. Toyed with the idea a few times but Kathleen refuses to ride pillion so pointless. Ex wife suggested a few times maybe I should get another bike :o

I think I might have the summons for the first one at my mums somewhere, along with my weekly letters including my payment receipts from my new pen pal, The Sheriff Clerk

I was laughing at the other thread n car ownership power where the graphs were following a straight line upwards on power/torque. Mine was a bit more peaks and troughs. After 1st ban a Metro 1.0 was all I could insure, 2nd one was a Civic 1.3 automatic

In the late nineties I’d driven from East Yorkshire to Southampton and was on my way back when I got caught doing 91 mph on the M18 at 01:30. I was the only one on the road at the time until someone joined the motorway from the A1 with their full beam blinding, me so I speeded up to get clear, turned out to be the police :headbang:

I was smoking around on my fireblade in the mid nineties when i saw a Ford mondeo exit a roundabout at considerable speed, i gave chase of course & did manage to overtake him after a mile or so - he was absolutely flying. I’d guess i was doing around 140mph (on a B road) as i pulled back in front and noticed the blue lights flashing behind his grill….
He was a bit purple faced & upset but after a ten minute roasting he let me go, i told him i thought i was doing around 65 as I’d only just crawled past him

About 850ish, between Newcastle and Cromer. No photographic evidence and I was a passenger. Future Chief of the Air Staff was my chauffeur.
For reference look left: ZA601. I was in the back 8)

I was 'making progress' in my E36 M3 demo along the M58, Liverpool bound about 2am one morning back in '96. Came around the long bend by Bickerstaffe decelerating for the exit ramp when a Police Range Rover moved out from a line of cars in the left lane and out in front of me in the central lane. My heart sank and I feared the worse  When I focused properly on the rear matrix it didn't say "Pull over" amazingly. It actually said "Turn your fog lights off !" :o
I switched them off and shot off down the exit ramp as Plod accelerated away up the central lane...phew ! TFFT ! Half a mile earlier as I lifted off for the long right hand bend I was doing 164mph...in 5th ! :D A very lucky escape
However, only recently took 3 points and a fine for 37mph in a 30mph zone :x

I'm more amused by the fact that the lorry behind is flashing to let him in!

Well if you are going to abuse the system then you certainly did it in style…makes my 106 mph on an empty dual carriageway with a 28 day ban look soooh tame…

I wish…I’d heard tales of UK police radar guns having had been inadvertently been locked on by US fighter aircraft carrying radar homing missiles but that’s a nice bit of speeding ‘evidence’…apparently 2013, it was a Polish Mig29..

212 mph in my 1.8l Pinto powered Ford Sierra estate in 1989. Got 3 points and a £70 fine cos I needed my licence for my job! :D
I have a feeling their speed gun needed re-calibrating :P

1987 ish, M11 heading north towards Harlow, but before the M25 interchange, 120mph on a GSXR1100. Pulled by an unmarked XJS Jag. 5 week ban, can’t remember the fine.

No dual carriageway involved, both within a 40 mile radius of the house. That’s what turned them both from SP to CD/DD offences because I’d crossed the white line even though no oncoming traffic. Well on the first one anyway.

Strange thing is on first one I was charged with both Careless driving and Dangerous driving and could “choose” which one. Was strongly advised to cop to CD, which I did. Second one was just Dangerous driving charge 🤷🏼‍♂️ Didn’t plead guilty to that but for some strange reason was found guilty, hence longer ban

My most entertaining run in with plod was driving an Astra 1.4 Estate from Gosport to Plymouth on my weekly commute about 30 years ago. It was about 5:30 in the morning. I spotted the Blue Fashing lights on a long straight. Had to be for me nothing else on the road. So I pulled over and let him catch up. Apparently I passed his radar trap at 114mph and he had been chasing for 8 miles. A sterrn chat about this and that. He complemented me for pulling over as soon as I spottedhim and that was that. :D Their not all bad.

In 1993 I was the (not that) proud owner of a green 1.6L Vauxhall Cavalier. Returning home at 3am from a night out in South Shields with 3 of my mates I foot to the floor past Washington services. When the police caught up with me they told me they had clocked me at 112mph, must have been on a down hill section of the A1!

The two guys that pulled me over used to call in at a service station I worked at when I was a student. I always made them tea or coffee if I was working but they said even though they knew me they couldn’t ignore the fact I was doing 112mph. I was quite surprised when I got to court expecting a bad to find out they had only clocked me doing 99mph!

I got away with a £300 fine and a stern telling off from the magistrates.
