Or ordinary petrol v Posh petrol ?

I only buy Duchy Originals Organic 99 Octane Petroleum Syrup.

z4C, stunning looking, problem for me I can’t fit in one easily as 6ft 4 and uncomfortable :) E89 suits me better and still thin it looks good with the roof up

I think the pre-facelift E85 has the best rear lights. E86 for profile, and I quite like the front kidneys of the E89.
When it comes to styling though, surely the Z8 is the daddy. (Not forgetting the classic 507, that the Z8 was inspired by).

Wow how far are we going back??
In which case check the 328 which was the 507's grand daddy!!

:D

perhaps the question should be - did you buy the car you can afford - or the one you wanted..

The one I could afford, E86 M's were just a stretch too far for me :(

Me too, I got the 2.0 for that reason, but I always loved the big six., of course education is a terrible thing, now I know about other zeds.. And I want... But I will keep this one. This is All I need and more than I dared hope for. :driving:

Back in the '70's and early '80s, I owned a 240Z and later an early 280Z. LOVED those cars, still do. They're starting to bring big bucks stateside, even in so-so condition.

When the E86 coupé was introduced, I about fell out of my chair. I never gave the E85 a second look when it came out, but the E86, to my eye, is just gorgeous - a modern-day 240Z. 12 years later, the styling has aged VERY well, and prices bounced off a bottom about 2-3 years ago and have been on the rise since over here.

For me, E86 all the way, and it's not close. I don't care for any of the more recent iterations at all. And I much prefer the S54 to some boosted "modern" powerplant, but that's an entirely separate discussion.

It's the same for me, but for me it was the mgb. The soft top Was The one for me, the gt was for girlies and hairdressers. :poke:

The one thing I love about the E85/86 is the rear flick on the boot reminds me of how Rocket Bunny body kit's look, especially with their 240Z kit. I think the E86 M is one of the best looking BMW's Bangle ever did for BMW.

I was very close to getting myself a E86 3.0, but with my Impreza P1 having 330hp/330lbt , I felt I would find the 3.0 to be lacking the pace I had grown pretty use to, even though I had not been driving for a few years. There were naturally other reason why I wanted to get an M, one was the S54 and one was just how they looked. Now I've had my E85 M for a few months, I've warmed up to the looks and feel I'm not missing out too much from having to go with one. I am glad they are not heavier or have the same penalties that the E46 M3 Cab's had to deal with when compared with the Coupe version.

I just wish the hardtop for the E85 would have a sloping rear profile, so it looked almost like the E86 when fitted.

You could get one of the unusual looking D.Moris Styling hardtops. They have a more sloping profile than the BMW one  image.jpg
Or you could make a hardtop that looks like a coupe  linksachterbijspuiter_zps05fbd7ef.jpg
This guy on the forum did back in 2015 and a top job he made of it too :o https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=74520&hilit=Hardtop+looks+like+coupe#p1094881

I like the one at the bottom. I think you're right that the silver one looks a bit odd, as it's still a bit too short but I guess that's due to the boot lid getting in the way.

I think the e86 is a good looker, but the e85 give the best of both worlds, good locks and roof down.
Both e85/e86 are fantastic designs, I constantly look at how all the body panel lines flow through the whole car.
Never been excited about the e89 personally.
G29 too fussy for me.
