What will your next car be?

Have been thinking about this quite alot recently and would like to change this year. I'm liking the AMv8's, M6's and C2's, what do you guys think? 4 seats in the m6 and 911 are a tiny bit more practicle.
 
Not too sure about the M6, but for the 911 forget the rear seats unless it's for kids or adults desperate to be seen in a Porsche! But yes... make it an S for the big reds and wide arches. Love the 911 myself... not that there's a duffer on your list. Price depending I'd also look at the 5.0 XKR - friend has the 4.2 and that's a monster - faster than his old 355! Although clearly not such an icon.

I think if you drive them there will be one that really gets under your skin.

Nice shopping list BTW!
 
The V8 Vantage might not be the best steer out of those you mentioned but those looks and that engine note makes up for everything. That would be my choice if i could!
 
M3 CSL for me.

I should have bought one when I had the chance, but was tempted away by a younger model.

After driving my mate's CSL I knew I'd made a small error. I still love the Z4MC, but I could happily use the extra space of the CSL - and I wouldn't have a normal M3 as I value the rarity.
 
It will be a fully loaded new Z4 sDrive35i (if I can wait), or a fully loaded sDrive23i (if I can't wait).

The other alternatives to new Z4 will be 330i/330d M Sport Coupe or 630i Coupe.
 
the jags not a bad idea, one rumbled passed me the other day and i was very surprised.

I do think it may be an X6 next. I know they are not popular on here but I liked them from day 1.

They have a very nice Alpine white one in the showroom at the local dealers. :thumbsup:
 
I tested an M6 coupe last month, it's "Maybe", or a Z4M for my place in Phoenix. The Gf wants an SUV to replace her Benz ML320 so it could be a later model X3. There's two of us, with four vehicles so who knows?

Current:
2009 Z4s35i 1200km
2005 325Ci 14000km
2008 Chev Silverado 16000km
1999 ML320 120000km absolute fuel pig !

The Benz has to go, need an SUV to replace it....
 
I have considered the XKR 5.0 - but jags depreciation isnt too great + cant see myself in one.

Dont really want to spend too much more than 40ish. Heart says the Aston, head says the 911 and the M6 is somewhere in the middle (+ they are cheaper.)

I'm thinking servicing/costs will be priciest for the Aston, then the Porsche and then the M6, so the M6 feels a bit more appealing.

I will testdrive the M6 in the next few months.

Ideal would be Vantage Roadster but it starts getting expensive!!
 
How about a Maserati Grantourismo? That engine is an absolute masterpiece. 8)

A friend brought one over & when I blipped the throttle it changed my life.
 
The M6 is probably one of the best bang for your buck buys. 500hp for under 30k? Yes please! :driving:

But still i wouldnt mind the Aston...

Andy - Maserati, I like em, they sound great too - but I wouldnt drop that sorta money on one! 55k+

I could not maintain it!
 
Used Granturissmos are still in the late £50ks early £60ks, quite a lot. The Gran Sport is a really interesting car (previous 4200GT with all the issues fixed). Proper 4 seater, V8 out of the F430, lovely cosseting interior, feels genuinely special. Lovely, lovely car to drive and rare too. £1500 clutch every 20k and 20MPG tops put me off though. Prices seem to be going up too due to scarcity...newest cars are 07 now but still £35k-£45k.

Exactly the same thoughts ran through my mind. Drove both, the servicing might settle it for you:

911 C2S - 20,000 miles, £450-£500 a time, 25-27 MPG realistic
AM V8 - 12,000 miles, £8000 - £1000 a time, 18-20 MPG realistic

The 911 has occasional back seat, cheaper to run, hold its' value better, more reliable...but I still want the Aston. :)

What's the difference? Did the M undergo a refresh for 2007?

I think he probably means the AM V8... the original wasn't that great (by roadtester standards), little tweaks mean the later edition is meant to be a much better car. It is lovely :thumbsup:

The GranTouismo is awesome, looks and sounds amazing... possibly one of my all time favourites!

I'd prefer a 4.7 too if i could afford one and who cares that it's slower than both the M6 and 911.

There is the 4.3 and 4.7 (facelift). 4.7 is meant to be much improved (more power, new centre console, etc) but I drove the 4.2 and wasn't disappointed in the slightest...it's quick! Z4M performance easily.
 
Future cars, hmmm.

Probably a combo of two cars i would think.
An oil burner to ferry kids around in, which looks inevitable soon. Probably a VW diesel of some sort.
Then a fun impractical car like an elise/caterham/exige/keep Z4.

The way petrol prices are now and the road pressures buying a huge power gas guzzling heavy car seems ridiculous even for a petrolhead like me. :cry:
I know people are saying now is the last chance to buy some of these thirsty cars and V8's etc but i think if you pushed them, even they would admit the times pretty much gone. Come resale you will be stuffed in 3/5 years.
