What will your next car be?

ga- i was actually talking about the M6, september 07 onwards there was a tweak - nice rear leds being the most obvious change.

4.7 vantage has a bit more poke, but the newer V8's are too much kerrrching for me - i think the old 4.3 makes all the right noises. (esp with the right fuse taken out!)

Mikedav thanks for the costs, does make me think. The 911 is a capable lovely sports car, but with so many around, the Aston would feel alot more special.

Theres a top gear episode where they compare all 3, the porsche had the quickest times on the isle of man. Spoke of the M6 struggling to put the power down and the aston was fractionally infront of the M6.

911 C2S - 20,000 miles, £450-£500 a time, 25-27 MPG realistic
AM V8 - 12,000 miles, £8000 - £1000 a time, 18-20 MPG realistic

I hope thats a typo!

Never noticed that

I knew the interior changed slightly with the new joystick auto but didn't realise it extended outside.

Am a massive fan of 911 but where I live now they're everywhere! Still... the PSE does sound good... if I had the funds they would be on the list too.

If you haven't already I do think the XKR is worth a look... although if you're in the AM league probably not what you want.

How this for a left field choice? Audi S5. Not the sharpest steer but perfectly capable and quite rapid. Sounds good too. Or a used SL55 AMG? Or how about a C63 AMG and a bit of haggling? Unassuming small saloon looks but with a monster 450hp 6.2lt V8 under the hood.

I like the A5 and have looked into this a lil, but I'm just not an audi fan. I just dont like the inside of them. 4 wheel drive in this weather is handy tho!! Loads of snow in the UK.

C63, it's just not fun enough, I'd be after is something to look forward to driving on the weekends.

Also not an Audf fan. S5 is lovely but like all the Audi's I have driven, somehow feels disconnected compared to a BMW.

Audi steering is also very over assisted IMO.

LOL yes! £800...

With a 40k budget how about something even more alternative? An early Bentley Continental GT. 550 odd hp W12 with not one but two turbos. Not exactly a sports car but i dare you to find a more capable Grand Tourer. :)

Unfortunately the GT Speed with the 600hp engine and chassis upgrades still commands around 80-90k though...

Guy I know got £55k trade in for his GT Speed. Did have 135,000 miles on it though!

It's not a bad car but very bulky / thirsty / OTT in my opinion....a bit footballer. I'd definitely rather have an Aston, though no back seat

Hmm as i love the Z4 so much i'd like to stick with it. So possibly an M Coupe, but i'd want it to be newer than the 3.0si i have now which is early 2008 so it's have to be late 2008 or 2009 before production stopped. Failing that, i wouldn't mind a new 35i in white with red leather!
I would absolutely love a Mustang Roush though...

Sir, I like your style, slightly more "subtle"

Good shout, Lucy... saw the "modern" Supercharged GT500 on TG rerun on Dave the other day, the sound is immense. Although I suspect it would handle like the Zed with 20" wheels and run flats... in the snow :!:

Just looking, you can get an 08 635d Convertible for about £39k, which will remap to 360bhp & 600lb, and all with good spec and newer idrives.

That's gotta be worth a consideration.

I've been looking on and off for the last 12 months or so and the only sensible options are the new m3, 997 and the AMV8.

I could always live on baked beans for a year and go for an early Gallardo, but realistically its not going to happen :( IMO there's not a lot out there unless you're prepared to spend 50+

EXACT three cars I have been mulling over for a year now. Head keeps saying M3 or 911, but every time I see a Vantage, heart slaps head across face and asks why we are even discussing it...
