Mine was a Mk1 1.6 Ford Capri Lreg 1973 , Daytona yellow , white steel wheels and a Venetian blind stuck on the rear window! I thought it was the dogs narna's .
Had it less than a month when a big old Volvo estate tried to drive straight through me, complete write off !
That was early 1984.....blimey!!

1984 Opel manta berlinetta

Please tell me it was a coupe.

I had a 1979 Hatchback. Coupes were much better looking though.

First car was a Fiat 127 though

'94 Peugeot 306, 1.4

I suspect the oldies will have more interesting cars here, I reckon anyone born after 1985 will almost certainly have had a clio, a corsa or a fiesta as their first car.

1956 Morris Minor KTY 883. Grey with a fair bit of rust. Bought it in 1964 when a student with money earned from a Summer holiday job. Had it for two years, trouble free and sold it to a fellow student.

1966 willow green mini van with the 'magic wand' (google it) gear stick - did I do some miles in that :)

Ex Italian Job police car, Alfa Romeo Gulia

1968 Singer chamios,.. it hit a wall, followed by a 1969 sunbeam stilletto ..rolled that,...then a Honda CB175, and l stuck with Bikes for a bit,..only fell off a few times

In 1978 when I passed my test I bought 1970 Trafalgar blue Austin 1100 for £450Austin 1.jpg
It only had 44,000 miles on it
Embarrassingly I put a sports steering wheel and spot lights on it

Great little car though (until the sills rusted) - learnt a lot working on it and was good for insurance until I built up some NCD

Bought one of these in 1983 for £85!
Triumph Herald 1200
Took my test in it and the bonnet flew up half way through! :-o (i failed)
scraped in the end as the chassis rusted out

In 1980 bought a £300 1973 Ford Cortina 2.0 GXL in Bronze. Had a shopping list of venetian slat blind thing for the rear window and set of chrome 5-spoke wheels - two weeks later wrote it off, on the way from buying the wheels to get tyres fitted on them! :headbang:

Replaced it the following month with another one, in red with a too-low air dam and too-wide white coach stripes. And vile green seats that would have matched the original car colour nicely.
