What was your first car

Ex Italian Job police car, Alfa Romeo Gulia

Love it, here's my Italian contribution, my second car 1.3TI Alfasud. This was only 5 years old!!!!,, door dropped, spoiler coming off, seats knackered, jacking point rusted, (put a hole in the floor jacking it up only to find it had inboard discs Grrrr), killed engine with a broken cam belt, Despite that I still bought another, this time a 1.5TI had that for 6 months before it put a hole in a piston. Have to say though it was a fantastic car to drive and have never EVER had a front wheel drive car that handled as well, whatever speed the handling was so neutral, no over or understeer just went where you pointed it. Would of loved another Alfa but just not brave enough, went for a Z4 instead. My Alfa Romeo 1.3Ti.jpg

Gave up after that and bought a sprint which nearly killed me a couple of times in the pouring rain

I had a 1969 Triumph 1300 in primrose yellow and had it painted in Inca yellow and did the bottom part of the boot lid in vinyl roof material to make it look like a Dolomite Sprint .

Nissan Cherry 1.3L

Mustn't forget the L. Think that ment mine came with a steering wheel.

A ford Capri 1600 GT,, bright orange :P with a gear stick that would keep popping out, till I glued it in with Araldite, a drivers seat that would recline itself every time I went over a nasty bump, and a tappet rattle I never got on top of, cant remember exactly how much, but £400 rings a bell

My first car was a 1997 BMW Z3 2.8. The insurance was cheaper than the typical Vauxhall Corsa or Ford Fiesta, and loved every moment driving it.

I just haven't had the heart to sell yet... look at those sad headlights

Blue mini metro identical to this, bought it off my mum.

Passed my test at 17, then let my 15 yr old girlfriend have a drive up on the moors out of the way, who promptly put it through a dry stone wall after confusing stop with go....

Patched it up, ragged it like you did at that age and wrote it off.....

Mark 1 Ford Escort 1100cc, SOV737H in white with two pin stripe red lines down the side. Paid £345 for it.

Never let me down, despite much provocation on my part.

Sold it two year's later for £300 and bought the most horrible Harvest Gold Mini 1000.

And I wasn't even on drugs!

A 1967 4 door MK2 Cortina 1500. Full poverty spec with vinyl seats and rubber mats on the floor, but a wooden dash out of a 1600E.

Probably spent as long with filler and rattle cans as I did driving it. It had to have a reconditioned gearbox, among many other faults!

Still luckily I was able to sell it after a year and get something a bit better. :)

2002 chilli red Mini Cooper S. Loved that car and having the massive sunroof is where my love of open top motoring came from. Just loved how airy and big the car felt.

Mine was a 1968 MG Midget 1275 SWA, ODG673G, it was BRG and cost £165 in 1982 when I was 17, I had it restored and painted Red inside and out, sold it to a guy after about a year to buy a 240Z :driving:

1992 Proton 1.3 GL. So crap they didn't even name the car, just the engine size and trim! Do I get the prize for crappiest/ugliest first car?!

Looked like this one...

In it's defence, it was supremely reliable. I miss that car...

Mine was a 1968 bronze..(there's a theme there, I just realised!) non MOT Sunbeam Imp. Paid £65. All it needed for the MOT was a bush at the top of the steering column, which cost £2.40. Those were the days! :D
