In the same vein as the first concert post , what was the first vinyl album you purchased , stole, borrowed or otherwise acquired?

Mine was Chungas Revenge by Frank Z and the Mothers of Invention

1st Album, Zenyatta Mondatta, by The Police.
1st 45, Geno, Dexys Midnight Runners.
Good to see we still remember important things in life.

Madness's debut album One step beyond, excellent album and still got it
Don't have anything to play it on now so had to buy the CD version.

Slade Alive, stolen er I mean borrowed from my sister round about 74-75

Vinyl?
That's even older than CDs and MP3
It's cloud based music that you don't even buy now.

Seriously though, all my money from paper rounds/working when I was younger went on food, drinks, university costs, stationery etc and the occasional clothes. No money left to buy expensive vinyl. I did have a tape recorder to tape some songs from radio.
I didn't get my first CD until I was much older, or go to my first concert until I was 24.

for those who don't know, a vinyl album was the thing that old people used to listen to their music, vinyl albums were out before cd's

Electric Light Orchestra - Out of the Blue.

Seems to have made a come back recently on the radio, probably because of the BMW ad.

What's vinyl? :poke:
Audiophiles will argue that it is the truest reproduction medium as it is an anologue recording and captures all notes unlike digital CD or MP3s which crop the top and bottom ranges.

No chance of ahem borrowing anything from my sister unless it was David Cassidy or The Partridge Family

Who will be the first to ask the question what was your first CD and what kind of CD was it?

I can claim to be one of the first customers to have a CD player as I got it from Philips before it was released to the general public :D

... did have to work the whole summer to pay for it though.

So before you all had cd players in your car, you had gramophone players?

In all seriousness though, I understand vinyl records are increasing in popularity these days. Probably doe to the reasons stated by RichardG.

Unfortunately I have never owned a vinyl record, although I remember finding my parents Beatles records in the attic when I was a kid. :D

Led Zeppelin II. When it was new in 1969.

Holy crap. That makes me really old. I'd better sell the zed And buy a proper old geezer auto. Preferably, One with an 8 track or cassette deck and some pioneer speakers to set on the rear window shelf.

Cheers
Jerry

P.S. My wife has a box set of the Beatles on vinyl.
