Hi all, gonna keep my z4m now so gonna treat it to some new tyres

Was looking at 275 35 19 rears and 245 35 19 fronts

Was gonna go for Michelin super sport

What you think?

Also gonna buy new exhaust is it the rip one that's quite loud?

I think you mean RPI - yes that's pretty loud, although there are others like Eisenmann Race, Rogue Diablo etc that are pretty loud too.

As for the tyres - yours has CSL alloys doesn't it? In which case those tyre sizes sound ok. I've no experience of the Michelin but I think quite a few others use them and speak highly of them.

Why the change of heart on the swap for a Supra?

It was always a hard decision to sell, and I had people fighting over it funnily enough

In the end it's just such a mint car and a lot of car for relatively little money just couldn't let it go :)

Cheers for reply anyway reckon ill go for rpi and the super sports then

For size, personally I wouldn't go wider than 265 on the rears and 235s on the front, as you will get rubbing if you drive it hard - I used to get a bit of rubbing even with 265s on the Ring and a couple of 'humpy' Welsh/Peak District roads.

But can only echo the choice of Pilot SuperSports as that's what I'm using - and am only just onto my 2nd set of rears after 20k miles of road & 'Ring. Fronts are about half worn at the same mileage.

I think part of my issue with rubbing was due to the VERY square sidewall/shoulder on the SuperSports, so you've got less space in the arch for it, and measuring the tread width it seems it's wider than the Conti/Goodyear of the same size.

I've just put a set of Super Sports on mine, I did go for 245 on the front, as the choice in 18" sizes is so limited. Pretty sure I'll be needing some new wheel arch liners before long though ...;)

It's limited, but the standard 225/45r18 is available as that's what's on mine.

The problem with the 245/45 option is you've not only got a wider tyre but you've also got a taller sidewall due to the extra 45% of 20mm extra width (i.e. 9mm larger radius and 2.7% larger circumference). To keep closer to OEM radius & rolling circumference you'd have to use a 245/40r18 (1% smaller) or 235/45r18 (1% larger) front tyre - both of which are available in the SuperSport.

I have wider wheels and thought 225 might be a bit stretched, so went for 245/40.

235/19/35s and 265/19/30s are the BMW specification tyres
Just had a quick scan through both owners manuals and found no reference to actual wheel and tyre sizes, strange or did I miss a page.

They're the CSL OEM sizes, not the Z4M OEM sizes.

For the Z4M, the info is in the 'Wheel & Tyre' section of the Z4M Supplement (about p27/28 depending on edition).

Depends what you want from your tyres , they all have different compounds so grip differently. All season tyres , summers tyres , winter tyres , track day tyres ?

Ye sorry was meaning CSLs.

I'm on 245 F and 275 R Goodyear Eagle F1's to throw my two penneth in, when they are due for change I think I'll go for pilots.

I use 19" Michelin Supersports on mine; great compromise for road and track tyre (also in the wet). A lot better then the older PS2. For a track "only" tyre I would choice the Cup+ on the 19" CSL wheels. For a tyre that's good on road and track and great in te wet, the Supersport is the only answer for me. I don't have a second set of track rims, so I use the Supersports all the time (not in winter off course). Cheaper then the Cup +, they last longer and IMO grip is 90% of the Cup tyres (on track and when hot).
