What size wheel?

Hi all what is the biggest size wheel i can get away with on a standard height, standard z4?-was thinking of putting 17's on then thought what about 18's?-i know that 108's are that size but unsure about rideability on a standard set up-thanks

I have 18" 108s on my 2.5 standard setup. No problems so far.

If I remember rightly the biggest you could get away with is 19" rims and I believe they rub on full lock.

I could be wrong but sure someone will correct me if I am :)

I've got 18s with profile 40 on my 3.0i (which i think sits slightly lower than standard but someone cleverer than me will know for sure!) and have no issues.

Obviously one way to deal with the issue is to reduce the profile of the tyres...but expect an adverse effect on ride / comfort.

As an aside, I've gone from 35 profile RFT to 40 profile non-RFT and the ride is transformed.

(Disclaimer: the car is not with me today so all profile figures may be out by 5 and front and back are different by 5 anyway)

If you were using 19 inch rims you would need 225-35/19 front and 255-30/19 rear to maintain the same wheel and tire diameter as with the stock tires and rims.

I have 19" rims with 235 front and 265 section rear tyres. Also my car is also slightly lowered on Eibach Pro springs.
I can asure you I have no rubbing issues front or rear. Also when a car has non standard wheels or suspension fitted here it must be inspected and approved by a TUV engineer to ensure there are no issues and I have the approval certificates.
I think those that do have rubbing issues usually have rims that are either too wide or of incorrect offset for the specific model.
