Sounds interesting Seal3.0, I've read the link you provided.

Would it cause issues having the stock rear set up with just the front upgraded?

Not at all because the conversion to larger fronts (E46 330 typically) takes it to the same set up as the post facelift 3.0, with both then using the same rears.

Run it for a few years on mine and a fantastic cheap upgrage when matched to decent pads and discs.

Yeah as CJ mentions here there's no issues.
And you don't need to go find the little bits (carriers, caliper spring kits). I've got lock stock, the F*****lot!
