I merely open the doors to allow others to see the opportunities….it’s up to others to walk through those doors….

(Sounds very Zen).. :tumbleweed:

Enjoy…you’ll enjoy the improvements.. :driving: :driving: :driving:

I’m going to do it in stages, B12 kit now but, I’ll leave the uprated ARB’s until later in the year…. Unless another cheap deal pops up!

Still need to find a Coder to code out the adaptive suspension, or be brave and try and work it out myself :o

Plans are -
To hydro dip the strut brace and fit that .
Bit more hydro dip to the engine bay .
Ghost immobiliser fitted .
Full detail to body

These threads are lethal. I have just finished building a spare subframe so I can swap it with my coupe subframe so she’s future proofed. Had the spare parts blasted, zinc coated and done in battleship grey.

I’ll need to do a clutch and fly at some point this year with 155k and 30 track days on the original.

Then the next round of mods will be either an ESS blower or 6 branch with custom cat setup and valvetronic lifter kit. Fancy a little bhp increase to around 280/290bhp, Americans having been getting great results on Zpost. She’s just sat on my ramp waiting lol

Plus I have a set of new BC’s to fit but might sell them and buy KV3’s

Lovely piece of work….I for the first time was looking at both E89 and E85 rear suspension systems..just didn’t realise how similar they were..give or take some bits of metal dimensions..

The ESS blower looks like a very nice piece of kit

B12 install complete, doesn’t sit much lower than the standard adaptive set up… although may settle a little as not many miles completed yet.

Night and day difference, much improved handling… which is the same as my experience with the e85 on the same kit.

Another verification that old adaptive dampers are shite…

I’ve only kept the OE adaptive suspension in my car a short while. In that brief period, my bum could never tell the difference between the settings. And the OE steering massively understeers anyway. Aftermarket is the way to go for more serious drives.

The stance looks good not too low and not too high although as with all E89s, could do with filling out the arches a little. So the handling is much improved but what about the ride quality? Are those rims 18"?

Yes, 18’s

Have some spacers which will sort the rear stance.

Ride is better than with the active set up set to hard, in fact it’s better than standard MSport too IMHO

I’m actually seriously considering a set of 17 x 9’s with a nice ET that would fill the arches nicely with the right tires, and they weight under 9kg each.

I think 17’s ‘can’ work visually… despite the fact everyone wants 19’s

True-Blue the car looks terrific. The metallic blue is a perfect colour in the E89 imho. Forgive my ignorance, what’s a B12? (Edit: stupid Q, just caught up on a different thread!!)

Had the rear springs changed on our e89 this year due to corrosion and put the (black) BMW M-Sport on it. But not looked at dampers yet.

TBH in the spring I think we will plump for a professional machine polish and hard wax. Follow that up with a replacement exhaust (to make the 6-pot sing) then look at the RFTs to Contis

19” works well aesthetically but does make it hard. The guy who’s gonna polish her was keen to promote 20” or even 21” to fill out the arches!!! Get outta here!!! I’ll have no spine left

Thank you

B12 is the Bilstein B12 kit. It’s a set of Bilstein B8 dampers and Eibach Pro Springs. It’s a very nice upgrade on any standard E89 suspension in terms of handling. Firmer than the ‘se’ suspension, but way better handing

EDIT- didn’t see your edit before replying

I’ve seen some photos of the E89 with 20” rims, IMHO I think they look a bit too big for the car 19” look just right but as you say gives a harder ride best compromise is probably 18” rims.

I think your car looks great with those 18” rims, just my humble opinion but I think 17” look a bit too small for the E89 but maybe they will ride better then even the 18” rims.

I’ll probably end up sticking with 18’s as I think they’re the best compromise between looks and handling/ride quality tbh
