What is wrong with people?

The city I live in, in Virginia is rough. I live 1/8th mile from a very bad neighborhood. Messing with someone's ride is as bad as slapping someones mom and you would likely be killed with a quickness and left in the street for the 5o clock news if caught. Seems like everyone in Newport News packs heat. A its almost better you guys don't have the right in that aspect haha

Thing is, whilst that is a little extreme, there is a level of respect for another's property in that view of messing with someone's ride that I had when I was a kid, as did my friends. You just didn't do it.Okay, my mates weren't packing heat, but neither were we living hugely privileged lives... Something has been lost, and it is a great shame if nothing else.

I am with the OGuv on this one.

But I want to add that the kids sometimes don't really understand their actions. They have competing drives, boys often want to assert their power, dominate their environment, their hormones confuse them, on the other hand empathy and social intelligence tell them not to scratch those cars or beat up the bus stop. The chance that any particular kid will develop the emotional control to restrain their baser temptations before their frustration becomes problematic is good, but not all of them work out that way. Most of those that offend will grow up soon enough and they will regret their stupidity in time.

Very very annoying when it is your car though.

:(

Well I must apologise.

We can't have kids, but if we did, I'd show the world the correct way to raise them! No more of these uncontrollable little scrotes!

These kids knew they were wrong, that was probably the attraction.

To the do-gooders who say its cos they have poor home life etc, then you might be correct...and this sort of behaviour gets rewarded with free holidays to Florida.

They did wrong. Punish and educate...i.e. 10 stokes of the cane, then explain its cos they damaged property...then 10 more strokes of the cane etc etc...

There's no such thing as 'try'. You either 'do' or 'do not'. I believe life is all about the decisions you make. The said, some people have been dealt a shite hand. It's how you deal with those in this situation who make the shite decisions that is the unanswered question.

I'm not bothering with this thread anymore because I think some of you don't seem to get the sort of people I am talking about. I'm not going to spell it out but some people really have been dealt an unbelievably shite hand in life. They are angry and make poor decisions. And I didn't say they were right in doing what they do.

My experience is that they start out bullying the weak. From there they move on to animals, then cars. Since no one stops them, their mischief and mayhem moves to murder. My friend Kimber stops them everytime. :poke:

fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering
fear is the path to the dark side...
yodas words not mine, and hes a jedi

Fair point, but EVERYONE has to be held responsible for their decisions, no matter what the underlying cause. I have no experience of the type of people you mention, but surely they can see that this is not acceptable? The reactions of people on here (myself included) are of disgust at the vandalism, and then a reaction. Admittedly, shooting someone may be OTT, but its the sort of instant reaction that gets provoked by this....doesn't mean they would actually want to kill someone for it.

If these people really are as you describe they may be, then what does the rest of society do? Just put up with it? what is the justice for them?

Unfortunately these kids are frequently high on caffeine, tablets, alcohol or a mixture of them all with a added dose of cannabis. No onder they don't make good decisions. There are a small band of scrotes in our village, everyone knows who they are and where they live, the police are round their houses all the time.Unfortunately they are largely thick, not interested in school and there is no sport to take some of their energies away. They sit around getting bored and then with their brains in a slightly addled state, they mooch around and one of them decides it's clever to destroy something,so they do.I had a run in with one of them as they wouldn't leave my dog alone, they'd come up to my gate and call the dog and wind him up,constantly.I found them doing this when they thought I wasn't in,but I was in my workshop at the bottom of my garden and heard it.A good old fashioned gobfull from me sorted them out and they have been fine with me since, maybe cos I caught them red handed so to speak. I don't think they're bad lads, they have no direction and no discepline.

3 rounds in a boxing ring with the culprits would work!

Then you got caned by the head teacher!
