Today, I...learned that my indy has closed his shop indefinitely due to a medical emergency, while my Z4 is locked inside his shop garage. :(

I'm seriously concerned.

Today I ended the life of a wood pigeon. Couldn't avoid due to traffic in the opposing lane, bloody horrible pop as I ran over it. I don't think I've ever killed anything more than flies with my car before, didn't like it :(

Ah... wood pigeons. Out in the countryside, they tend to roost on the roads and aren't quick to shift first thing in the morning. Apparently its something to do with the Rapeseed Oil crops - they feed on it, and it fuddles their brains (see below)... so this time of the year there's a lot of "popping" going on out in the sticks!

[There is a school of thought that Rapeseed is a pretty bad oil for consumption in animals and humans alike - the rapeseed plant is derived from the mustard family and when processed, it becomes rancid very quickly. As you may know, rancid oils, ingested, quickly destroy Vitamin E in your system. Rapeseed has been shown to cause lung cancer (Wall Street Journal, June 7, 1995). Other side effects of rapeseed include loss of vision, disruption of the central nervous system, respiratory illness, constipation, anemia, increased incidence of heart disease and cancer, low birth weights in infants, and irritability ]

Not really today, but at the weekend I finally got round to covering the MFSW spokes. When I bought #108 five years back, the steering wheel needed refurbing as the last owner removed chunks of the leather on the wheel and spokes (I had images of it being owned by a Bobby George lookalike)

A couple of years back, I had the wheel refurbed by Jack at RoyalSteeringWheels - an excellent job as usual - but unfortunately he couldn't replace the leather on the spoke trims (he doesn't stock a thin enough leather). I finally sourced some suitable leather from US last month, so over the weekend indulged in a little skiving, cutting, gluing.. and now have some leather clad spokes. Very happy with the end results, much better than either paint or wrap finishes :D

At the moment the bottom poke is "just" plain black leather. When I'm feeling a little more ambitious, I may go for the Alpina rhombus design - that will probably take another 2 years though :D

[footnote: unfortunately the images aren't available yet, and I am in Japan so don't have access to the car. I will upload some pics when i get back though!]

Finally got round to getting the CDV delete done, can't believe what a difference it has made, just wish I had done it sooner :D

I was half expecting to find a head or something wedged in the air duct, fortunately that wasn't the case. RIP Woody - at least you went out in style...

OMG..!! Look at the state of that, how could you Bing, IT'S TRULY SHOCKING!!!!

An old screwdriver or pallet knife etc will rake out the woodland that's growing from in between your cobble sets...no no need to thank me, always happy to help...

Made a small donation to 'Justice for Sgt Blackman' in the hope that something good comes out of his new appeal.

Thought about starting a new post on the subject but decided against.

No time for that, maybe next year :) :D

Did the LED lighting mod in the boot as per previous 'how to' on here
Looks ace, much brighter and all for less than ÂŁ2

Today I just missed a Pheasant that was trying to save on the fare to Switzerland.

They are such dumb feckers.

Didn’t like the chrome as it doesn't match any of the other trim and all black is too invisible so...

Very pleased with the results.

What have I done ?
I got extreemly frustrated watching that rugby fiasco at Twickenham on the box !
Cymru am Byth, I say !!

Went to collect the Alpina from Phil at CPC Amersham after giving it to him on Tuesday with a very rattly vanos and rough idle.... One vanos overhaul and replacement timing chain tensioner later and it's running better than ever! Phil even sorted out an intermittent rear light bulb problem FOC while he was at it.

Now hoping for a dry weekend and a trip to the Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble tomorrow :)
