What have you done to your E89 today

Replaced my faulty rear light unit with a new one this afternoon. My rear left indicator leds were playing up and I decided to just replace the whole unit with a new one. Before I started I checked the indicator ... and sods law it worked perfectly, dispite playing up for a few days.

I bought a new unit from Ebay and it arrived by DHL today on time. It came extremly well packaged and with all the bulbs, and was a simple like for like replacement.

One thing that is different, there was only 2 screws to secure the unit instead of 3 , but this seems to be the norm for replacement units now.

That's right the later units only have 2 screws ans it's prudent to tape over the unused hole in the bodywork to stop any potential water ingress.

Good Point , and I did not mention/post the full photos of the swap but , Yes I did tape up the unused hole plus I used some silicon grease on the openings/ rubber seals.

I would be worried that tape will detach when wet

A 9mm blind grommet fits

That is a possibility, but I did not have any grommets to hand and so just used some Duct tape /wiped with silicon grease for now, and yes I have ordered some grommets from Aliexpress :)
