What have you done to your E89 today

Need to get a better look at the one on the back, they are red, but don't look hand painted.

Maybe professionally overhauled ..?

Perhaps, will have a good look in a few weeks, I take it I have to put rear brakes into service mode, does this fully retract pistons.

It's strange back ones have been done but not front

Yup..well it retracts the jack threads..you may have to manually push the pistons back

Did you use bimmercode, interested but for £40 to close mirrors to expensive mod, other the the open roof upto a speed of 30km, what other options have people coded

Hi

I have bimmercode because its fast and easy to use.

Could use Ncs expert, more in-depth. It is free just need laptop and K-dcan cable.

Do you need comfort package to do this?

Taken the strategic decision NOT to install an Android head unit in lieu of the current idrive screen…

Given the sexy and shiny ID4Motion digital cluster I felt an equally shiny Android screen would match it well.

So I bought a Hi-Fi Max 10.3” unit (as well as trying their 12” monster)..

However the reality is that I use CarPlay extensively and/or the CIC core functions such as the Nav..

CarPlay doesn’t need / benefit from any increases in resolution or screen size…so I’ve abandoned it..

I was forced to buy a CIC head unit when my original died…but I’ve now had that repaired.

I saw a CIC screen from a 2015 car on eBay and made a cheeky offer which was accepted.

So I’ve got two screens and two head units…

The 2015 screen had some blotches which contrary to thoughts were not stains but holes in the anti reflective top layer.

So bitten the bullet and tried to fix that issue…

I used silver polish initially then bought some premium specfic fine plastic polish.

Very pleased with the result.

Maybe you could use a further finer polish to get a more glossy finish but not sure that’s a benefit with roof down in sunlight..

I’ll confirm it works well when it’s fitted…probably next winter..

Food for thought

I have comfort package (not comfort access). I don't know if comfort package is needed, guess as long as you have folding mirrors it should work?

Comfort access is to do with keyless entry and start not related to mirrors..

CA also allows remote closing of roof on the fob..

Hmm yeah I dont have either packages but I do have the button to fold the mirrors. Ill attempt to code it in, ive had issues in the past with some coding where it says its enabled but still doesnt work so hoping it does here.

Visited Mike at The Zed Shed (Warrington) to get roof problems fixed. No guarantees that I’ll never get a problem again but he gets my recommendation for quick and affordable service.

Seems to pretty cost effective on roof repairs

New two piece Zimmerman brake discs installed with HP2000 pads. Complete flush including DSC pump using Launch diagnostic and presure bleeder. Very satisfying.

Normal bleed first then the DSC as per instructions. Nice pedal feel now! :driving:
