How did the water get in?

Another day…finally after over 2 months got some caliper pad anti rattle springs that fit the unique Mustang caliper casting ..surprised bolting them up quite a lot of inboard disc left unswept by the pads..given how big the pads are laterally I’ll have to live with it..in comparison my rear brake design wipes just about every mm of the rear discs..unlike the stock 18i/20/23i/30i or the 35i/35is rears which leave large amount of disc unswept.

Despite much bench testing another issue is the flexible brake pipe routing and lengths..time ran out today ..may need to be creative with routing and/or new flexible pipes..

Apart from that front and rears look ready for brake bleeding and then road test…

Not sure, I think possibly the boot seal where the damper sits, I need to investigate further.

IMG_8727.jpeg

There’s a bit of a bottleneck there which could cause the water to hold and seep in.

Slowly working my way forward…today started looking at re-assembling the front and rear bumpers…only to discover that the ancillary covers and sensors shade of yellow is ‘off’..so they are ‘off’ to the painter tomorrow…

Rest of panels seem to match..quite a tricky colour Atacama Yellow..changes a lot in type of lighting and intensity of light ..

Fitted all 4 BMW badges …the front came off easy, when I had the bumper off..the two side ones were bitches..the 2 side lugs wouldn’t let go and broke in situ..tapped the old lugs through and mounted the fresh ones..the rear boot emblem was a real bitch ..in the end drilled a hole in the middle and screw driver levered it off..

Fitted new front discs and pads.
So new all around now.

Then a few days later had EBC failure warning come up with amber brake warning.
Why, i don't know, gone on restart.
Pushing the piston in might have disturbed or pushed bubble into abs unit?
Was going to run the abs bleed from code reader, but warning hasn't come back.

Fault again today, seems to start with brake light switch...

Threw on front and rear H&R anti roll bars with adjustable drop links all round.

Also a pair of adjustable front castor arms.

Next is the adjustable rear camber arms, but for another day.

Both mods have had a profound positive effect, well worth the outlay, so so pleased with the difference they’ve made. :driving:
