What have you done to your E89 today

Well, that sucks, Dave. Luckily it's only the mirror that's needing repaired. It could've been worse.

Had a spare hour today, so decided to do something about the poor lighting in the boot.

I had ordered these for the rear of my works van and had one left over, so just utilised it in the zed

I used velcro on the back of it for fitting. Grips very well.

I then cable tied the wires to the existing ones in the boot floor to try and keep it half tidy and spliced into the existing loom.

I had originally fitted a new led in the existing boot light. It made a slight improvement to the flickering one that was in it already, but nothing to write home about.

Before

After

All in all, it's a vast improvement to what was there.

Is that because you can actually see it now?

The problem once you start modifying things is that EVERYTHING seems to be needing fettling..

On the front end I’m using E90 35i brake shields which fit the stub axle but just kiss at the rear the brackets for the 380mm 6 pot big Brembo…

At the back with the 370mm rear disc and M5 caliper / bracket adaptor I’m using some M5 rear brake shields..they needed quite a bit of cutting n fiddling as it’s all very very tight in there..

I tried fitting some chrome wheel nut covers. Already have some faded black chrome fitted.
First 3 fitted, next 2 wouldn't.
Then remembered i have fitted some after market bolts to replace the locking bolts.
The size across flats slightly larger.

Try splitting the covers with craft knife see if that will make them fit.

Abandoned it in a multistorey carpark for an hour, then on way home, met zed baron and had a wee chinwag. Got home and gave the seats a coating of gliptone. Car smells like a DFS store now

Andy, the car looks amazing, couldn't believe how good it was, you've taken it to the next level +, so happy it's gone to someone that's spoiling it big time, sounded excellent as you drove away. Safe trip down to Dave's

Thanks. The ali express version doesnt look too bad!

Made some progress today…made a patch pipe to fix one of the broken pipes, managed to unstick one of the others..only one left to make…steep learning curve being a hydraulic plumber….easier to do on a bench ..less so in situ..you need a couple of inches of straight pipe to be able to get the tools in..the plastic coated steel pipes fitted to the E89 are a bitch to work with..

Fitted front brake shields, torqued up the Brembo adapter brackets …awaiting the pad clips which are only available in the US which should arrive tomorrow after a 2 month plus struggle..

Fitted the M2/M4 380mm front discs..big chunky things

Trial fit of 370mm rear disc looks nice n chunky too!
