What have you done to your E89 today

So, tonight I fitted my new m sport rear bumper along with a boot spoiler and new rear badge, then gave it a 2 stage machine cut and polish. Really happy with how it's turning out now.

New M-tec discs paired with ebc green stuff pads fitted all round tonight. Pales in comparison to what Peter is creating

Stops the car nonetheless :)

Looks superb IMHO. :driving:

I do concur :)

I’m being drawn to a boot spoiler… 🤔
same here, I'm guessing as mine is BSM then it should nicely blend in?

Finished my 677 Professional Audio upgrade with the addition of the rear centre speaker grill with built-in tweeter. Only £37 all-in from Sytner BMW at Nottingham, far cheaper then even lllparts.co.uk, which have it starting at £44 + shipping! And the cheapset on eBay was £57. :driving:

* Not actually noticed any difference having the tweeter there, but at least the grill finishes the look properly :D

Today, I fitted new back plates to the front brakes as the originals were disintegrating, and a new front badge.

Are they MTEC front discs? Seems like early rust?

Yes. I had given it a quick wash before hitting it with the machine the other night and it hasn't moved since.

Rebuilding the M5 rear calipers about to be fitted to my 35is with 370mm discs..decided to do the whole job in-house…fresh seals, pistons, and motor assembly..

For those vaguely interested in how the electronic parking brake aka electromechanical parking brake (EMF) works..here’s some pics of the parts..

So a geared electric motor drives a jackscrew attached to a metal puck that sits inside the piston of a standard sliding caliper disc brake..the screw goes through the outside wall of the caliper via a seal to the motor..there’s some needle roller thrust bearings to take the strain..when the ’handbrake’ is applied an ECU drives the jackscrew forward pushing the piston against the pads..it senses when the current starts to rise indicating that the piston has travelled about as far as it can..it then stops..the ECU receives signals from the DSC to tell what temp it is at..that determines when and how frequently it retightens the jackscrew..in addition the DSC checks to see if the car starts to roll in which case it commands the parking brake ECU to re-apply force…because the motor drives through a planetary gear arrangement the position is locked when power is removed..so no need for constant electrical current..simples !

Fitted a new osr arch liner as the last one got damaged while trying to remove the corroded and seized retaining bolts when changing the bumper.
