What have you done to your car today?

Currently investigating as to why my roof needs a little assistance when going down and spotted an almost(?) full tool kit which quite surprised me. Coupled with the triangle and a complete first aid kit, I think I've got a complete set!

I stumbled upon, researched, took on and completed the Side Bolster Mod to my standard leather seats. It was fairly easy, apart from reattaching the seat back, which was a pain, but was sorted in the end. The difference is night and day. My standard seats don't really look any different, but they now hold me in on the corners and are more comfortable than before. I added some padding back in to the sides to help fill the new gap at the sides of the seat back cover.

I'd say that the seats feel how I expected them to, much more like the ones in my old Audi, and more like you would expect in a sports car.

It's a good free mod if you have standard seats, and slide about in them too much!

Swapped the complete brake set up from the 3.0i I dismantled last month onto my daily 2.2i. All four discs, pads and rear callipers were less than 1000 miles old and the front callipers about 5k. As I had a binding front calliper it was a simple and free upgrade. Not expecting any amazing improvements, but every little helps.

Some more information and pictures about this? My standard seats are really frustrating in the corners...
Have a look at the link below.

Seat Bolster Mod

I had thought about taking photos or doing a guide, but to be fair, I had no idea what I was doing, and I couldn't find my tripod, so I just did the job.

The worst bit was putting the seat backs on again and getting the clips to stretch back onto the seats. To be fair, it would be quite easy to ruin perfectly good seats if you get it wrong. But with some time, thought and some spare padding (for outside the frame) it's not too bad a job, and can be done with the seats still in the car!

Photo is of the seat after modification.

I have also done the side bolster mod as part of my ‘project Frankenseats’. I’m trying to create a ‘budget’ improvement on the SE/standard seats.

I am in the process of combining my modded E85 leather heated seatbacks, seat base and pan of some cheap E46 manual cloths sport seats, some old heated leather E46 convertible sport seat base covers, and the OEM E46 lumbar support. It will all be mounted on my electrical adjustable seat bases. It all still a bit ongoing and will report back once the first seat is ready. Hit some little snags along the way, nothing serious. Part of the fun!

With the back rests out of the car I’m seeing where I can further add some foam for better side support.
