What have you done to your car today?

Changed the valve cover gasket. Never done anything like that before - hoping I’ve done it correctly. As soon as I spotted the leak I haven’t driven the car so hoping I can enjoy the car again.

I’ve been on many forums for various cars I’ve owned but this forum is a belter and has helped find all sorts of tricks to breathe life back into the car. The most bizarre being propping my key on a tooth brush holder to enable remote locking! 😂

Had a go with a Cerakote headlight restoration kit this weekend.

Really easy and quick, took longer to mask the bodywork than it did to use the kit.

Pretty pleased with the result though. Taken years off the front end.

That’s a huge improvement! UK MoT pass grade that (it’s at least an advisory without it)

Good point - I didn’t think about that, but it may well have been flagged at the next one. Don’t think there’s much chance of that now!

Just need to see how long it lasts, hoping for 2-3 years before it needs doing again 🤞🏻

Good result there!

I did mine (3m kit with a drill + some extra UV sealant) earlier this week, and applied some 3M PPF to them today to help keep the UV off, and to keep them fresh longer. Might be worth considering?

Pretty easy to do with a lot of water (slightly diluted with dish soap) and a spray bottle. The wetter, the better, I found!

I went cheapskate on my Cat N 330i Shed and just used T-Cut!

Shonky photo but it made a huge difference.

Managed to get time to get the front shocks out. To be honest fairly easy. Lots of penetrating fluid round the base and all the bolts. The only thing is i perhaps should of left the shock fixed to the car and lowered the hub carrier downwars, as opposed to vice versa.

Whilst in the wheel well i painted the calipers and brake lines with hammerite. Just waiting on auto doc now.

I bought a TVR, crashed it on the way home, had to leave it to pick up the next day, got home, remembered I'd forgotten to insure it and had crashed near a notorious traveller site, and went back to find it gone.

Luckily this was a dream not real life.

Nothing. BUT as this is a v popular page, thought I’d hijack it to say that issue #35 of Classic.Retro.Modern. magazine is available from 1 July (in UK) and will contain a quite brilliant article on the E89 Z4. 😉

All back issues and news available here: https://classicretromodern.com/

I’ve seen it; your money will be well spent

Some animal (cat?) had walked dirty footprints all over the bonnet last night so I gave the car a wash and tried out Demon Foam with Gun. I'm sure its not as good as a pro job but for a quick wash I was extremely impressed.

Screw supplied nozzle to the top, plug in a water hose and turn on the tap. Spray the car with water then turn the dial on the nozzle to open the foam connection and it sprays the foam solution all over the car. Its not as thick as some of the snow foams I have seen people use with proper pressure washers but for £8 and just plugging in a garden hose it worked really well. clean with a sponge, hose off and wipe down. For very little effort the car looks much happier now.

I reckon I used about 1/6th of the 2 litre container.

Started stripping out the 6-speaker wiring harness and replacing it with a 10-speaker harness. I almost decided not to do it due to the amount of dismantling involved, but bit the bullet today. Now there’s no going back.

I also removed a gaptech module and a reversing camera system installed by previous owners. I’ll be putting them up for sale soon, contact me if interested.

Tired to start the car, and realised I’d left the key in half turned, so battery completely dead! :headbang:

It’s on a CTek charger now, so fingers crossed..!
