What have you done to your car today?

Ebay special wheel caps

If those are replicas, consider applying a layer of tape on the tabs. The plastic tends to be a little thinner so they’re more susceptible to falling loose.

Heat (from braking) is definitely a contributing factor

I finally had Royal Steering Wheel redo my Z4 MC steering wheel and it looks very good.
I want to change over to the graphite steering wheel trim set. The only problem is that the kit is discontinued. Anyone know of an available kit: 65710304942 Retrofit kit, multifunct. steering wheel?
Otherwise I will need to need to order the trim pieces without the button pieces and buy those used. Pretty expensive going this route... :driving:
Thanks! ~Tom

Pics please!

Your best bet is probably to do what I and a a few others have posted pictures of in previous pages on this thread, namely taking the trim apart, sanding it, and painting it. I actually think the finish I have now (matte black) looks and feels better than the original finish the trim pieces had.

You were probably looking for pics with trim. One trim piece is cracked and another the screw mount plastic is coming off. Unless I’m able to glue these trim pieces back together, i may have to replace them.

Had my wife pick out the steering wheel trim. As it turns out the same as Dubbedown did on his steering wheel.

Pulled the EPS motor out as it failed on me yesterday, what a job and a half spent upside-down in the footwell most of the day once the seat was taken out. The two torx bolts t hat hold it in are a pain to get onto. Persevered and got it out, got to wait until Tuesday now to send it off for repair.

Don’t feel bad, that piece cracks 95% of the time.

[ref]Fred Smith[/ref] is looking for old fog lights to refurb. He’s in Guildford.

Replaced the RHS sidelight bulb - Including fettling the holder to release the bulb.

Who at BMW ever thought a captive bulb on the holders on xenon-equipped cars was a good idea :(

Least I know what to do when the LHS eventually fails…

what is it? glued in?

The bulb goes in the holder, holder goes in the front half moulding. Then they put the back half on and melt them together. And the little bayonet tabs don’t come out the front so you have to dremel holes to get it out.

10 seconds work to save having to buy a nearly 40 quid holder. Madness 🤣

That turned out really well! Was it painted before and you removed the paint back down to the original plastic trim color? That turned out like brand new!
