What have you done to your car today?

Set out with big plans to change the oil in the 3.0si but hadn't realised I needed a filter wrench to get the oil filter open (M54 has a 36mm(?) nut moulded into housing, N52 does not.)

Instead sat inside whilst it pissed it down and spliced a Gaptech RCH+ into the ashtray plug(s) so it now has one touch buttons inside, and "three touch" roof down from the key. Also figured out where the bluetooth module was to find the pairing PIN and paired my phone to it, only to find no sound comes through when making a phone call anyway. Oh well, will replace the whole head unit soon with a CarPlay unit.

Technically did or started the following this weekend, but took out the driver's side seat for some cosmetic maintenance, and took out and pulled apart my steering wheel. Currently (still!) in the process of sanding down all the trim pieces and cleaning them up, then glueing some broken tabs back into place with some additional strengthening, and getting them ready for paint this weekend (primer + matt black + lacquer).
Steering wheel itself should be boxed and sent out to Royals by the end of this week as well for a refurb.

Trip to BMW today for the 23i Vanos recall work, only to be told - having arrived - that not all the parts were available so they couldn’t do it today. Or indeed tomorrow. REALLY?! when did the recall notice come out… May? So we are back home again. A chance to look over some lovely new BMW and MINI cars tho, always dangerous. A stunning pre-registered Z4 in darkest matt green in the showroom. Needless to say didn’t buy anything. Snapped a lovely graphic in the showroom too; thought it would look better in my garage, if they wanted to part with it. A

I reversed the Zed out of the garage and drove to Chippenham Town Fc to report today ⚽️. Embarrassingly, by the time I got home, I have only clocked up 171 miles since last October 😲

Currently have scuttle panel removed to clear the debris out from underneath

A decent amount of garbage in there. All cleared now.

That strut brace is not very reassuring.

Cheers. No build thread. I could probably do one as I’ve done a lot to it over the past couple of years.
It had a respray early this year too.
