However I cleaned everything, greased a little and put back together. We'll see...

You can see it's worse on the right side where the plastic is rubbed through. Rubbing can also be seen on the tires.
Any idea?

That does seem strange as I ran my previous E86 with E89 wheels, so fronts were 8J x 18 ET29 rather than ET47 but I didn't get any rubbing on standard Sport suspension.
Are you running a lower set-up like Eibachs or similar?
The car has factory M sport suspension and factory tyre dimensions for 18". So the only anomaly from being totally original is the E90 rims with ET34.j3nks79 said:x-driver said:Washed the car today after the 1.800km long trip this week. What size tyres are you running?
You only usually get wear on the wheel-arch liner in that particular spot if your front shocks are old and tired and the car bottoms out on high-speed compression bumps. Is your Z4 on old/original shock absorbers ? I'm running ET34 on the front of mine and it would rub in that spot before I replaced the old Sachs shocks with Bilstein B4 all round. Never done it since. Also, your front tyres are very worn on the outer shoulder so I would definitely get the tracking looked atx-driver said:Washed the car today after the 1.800km long trip this week. My shocks are still original, but the car has only 119.000km at the moment. Could they be bad just because of age?patriot66 said:You only usually get wear on the wheel-arch liner in that particular spot if your front shocks are old and tired and the car bottoms out on high-speed compression bumps. Anything over 80,000km and your shocks are on borrowed time. It tends to be the gas that leaks away, so no visible signs and also affected as much by time as by mileage.x-driver said:My shocks are still original, but the car has only 119.000km at the moment. I went to check the tracking today, it was a bit off, but nothing serious. I doubt I solved anything by correcting it.

x-driver said:Interesting... On e39 they were said to hold all the way to 300.000km before really going bad. They don't feel soft or anything anyway...
My original Sachs were 14 years old and approx 112,000km when I replaced them. Three were completely empty of oil and gas and the fourth was almost as bad. Your shocks WILL be completely ineffectualx-driver said:My shocks are still original, but the car has only 119.000km at the moment.
