What have you done to your car today?

Looking lovely, are you tempted to PPF the front end now all brand new?

The cost of the ppf doesn’t really stack up. I get paintwork done at a very good price. 3/4 years time id just get a front end paint if it’s bad again.

The eagle eyes among you might spot them.

Did you have the reflectors removed and totally filled in or just sprayed over ? I had my reflectors filled over and sprayed so the gaps around the reflectors are still there . I now think I should have had them completely filled and blended into the bodywork so there is no sign they were ever there .

No just had the reflectors painted. On a black car it it’s hard to see the gaps around the reflector.

Good call

So I went for a drive this evening catching the last of the sun. I haven't driven my Zed for just over 2 months, the thought of having to clear the garage behind the car, get the car out and put everything back in, is somewhat off putting.

The last drive I had was just after the final fitting of the paddleshifts to the steering wheel. Then a week later I added powered bases to my seats but I didn't go for a drive and it was playing on my mind a little as to whether this would have compromised the seating position.

So all day I had been saying to myself 'today is the day to get the car out' and so I did!

The car started no problem, roof went down and off I went. I did 15 miles on the dual carriageway to warm everything up and then hit the back roads.

After annoying everyone in the local area with some high revving action I caught up with some country road traffic and it was time to come home.

During the gentle ride back I was mulling over all the mods done to the car. Adding the cruise control, wrapping leather on the dash trims, changing the seats and fitting the modded steering wheel with the paddleshifts. It was all definitely worth it!

A very enjoyable drive, everything has enhanced the experience and whilst shutting the garage door, after putting everything back in, with the last of the tinks coming from the exhaust I thought to myself 'that was fun.'

Hopefully not too long to the next drive as it's the local cars and coffee meet with a few other local Zeds this Sunday

Fitted some spacers to the wheels. 15mm rear, 12mm front.

I think it looks better but I’m now not happy with the arch gaps  The gap between tyre and arch is at 50mm rear and front is 30mm! Im now looking at lowering springs or coilovers. Budget may only stretch to springs though unfortunately.

On a side note I’m loving the carbon black. It needs a deep cut and polish but when the suns out it’s epic. Shame we haven’t seen the sun for a bit!

Have you driven the car since dropping it back down after fitting the spacers? Sometimes it takes a while for the suspension to settle back down after lifting the car up.

Yes, I’ve done enough milage for the car to settle now. The gaps are the same as before I fitted the spacers. The PO had fitted new shocks and springs. I even looked to see if he had bought SE spec but no they are correct.

I’m looking at Eibach or H&R springs atm. Reviews suggest that the Eibach are better performers but I don’t want a 30mm drop really. I’d be happier with the 25mm from H&R but have read they are harsh. Decisions decisions, and er, a lack of budget unfortunately!

I think you find the drop on H&R is actually more severe than on Eibach’s. What they say they will drop the car by and the actual height afterwards are quite different I believe

Ok, point taken, thanks.

Finished the steering wheel today. I had given all the plastic spoke trims a rub down and a few coats of satin black. Thought id do the wiper arms at the same time because they were looking shabby.

Royals did the re trim on an exchange basis. The satin black paint I used is a bit too shiny, but it’s tidied the wheel up ok. After 118000 miles it was past its best! Unfortunately I marked the paint on the lower spoke trim when fitting back up. I really can’t be bothered to strip it all down at this point to do it all again. I think I’ll wait for another day, or even splash up for some new trims if I feel flush. I’d need to feel flush at the price too! Main thing it that it feels so much better in the hands, and that’s what matters!

So easy to mark parts when they are a fiddly fit . Great look and feel to a Royals wheel

Fitted a Mann cabin filter which is much better quality than the Crosslands one I took out .
