What have you done to your car today?

Another week has passed and it hasn't stopped rain in Wales for a moment so once again, I've done absolutely nothing BUT...............DRUM ROLL...........Once l push the submit button I'll,have the big 1000 and 4 golden spangley stars.... :sweetheart:

Installed new ARB bushings. Slowly but surely, I'm getting all the 20 year old rubber bits changed.

Good work. When it’s all done the difference is superbπŸ‘

Finally got round to removing the aluminium trim and start fitting the carbon leather trim that I bought from forum member [ref]Wassup[/ref], and I am very happy with the way it looks . Now just got to remove the whole of the centre consol and everything else that goes with it to fit the last part . Not looking forward to that .

Fitted the Bastuck midsection without silencers. No change under steady load, but quite a nice rasp under full chat and nice burbles off throttle. Straight six symphony :driving:

Bastuck really gives a good sound, I've driven a Z4 with it. Too bad it's not road legal. We have quite strict laws here in Slovenia regarding car modifications.

That would be neat to hear if you ever record it!

First proper day off this year so put the Z back on the road. Charged it up and ordered a couple of rear boot vents from Lloyds to replace tomorrow as although the boot is dry I’d imagine the vent seals have disintegrated by now.

Can’t post them here, but there’s a few clips in my Instagram stories: https://www.instagram.com/bartsbuilds?igsh=YzVkODRmOTdmMw%3D%3D&utm_source=qr

Removed centre console to try and fit carbon leather trim . As I cant bend my left leg it makes things even more of a challenge as I cant kneel etc so I spent 2 hours in various positions some of which are probably not even in the Karma Sutra . Got there in the end though . I would say the most time consuming part was getting the knee pads off the console :headbang: Eventually got a trim remover behind the front and slipped in another quickly behind it .
Once it was all out I realised I still had to cut the airbag button hole in the carbon trim as it only came with the sport button side done . Used a drill and then a deburring bit to cut the shape out but did not know that there is a thin wooden layer between the part and the leather . This caused the leather to lift as small bits of wood fell out from under the leather :headbang:
I have glued it back down as best I can and will leave it overnight before possibly getting everything back together tomorrow. I am hoping it wont be too noticeable once the button is in and everything is back together . Not sure what I could have done any differently if I had known about the wood layer being in between .

The bezel on the airbag button must give a reasonable coverage. It may be worth packing the wood layer and stabilising with some epoxy to make sure there is no further deterioration.

I have run a layer of fabric glue between the leather and wood with a small brush and that combined with the coverage of the bezel on the button will hopefully do the trick

Finished the final part of the carbon leather . Have left putting the handbrake gaitor back on for now as need to put it in service mode before adjusting new cables . Car needs a hoover :)

Looking good mate. Job well done πŸ‘

Treated my car to 6.5 litres of the finest golden lubricant.

Just as well as although the car said oil level ok; I measured the drained oil and it had 7.5 litres. It was the first service since I purchased it two months ago.

Now at the correct level purring like a kitten. New wipers and a full cleanπŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
